Poem from the Silent Beach

At the edge of the gray dusk
the sea breeze
brings emotion

Soft verses
spoken in an accent
like a prayer of the adventurers
unfading from the breath

To the silent land
I offer my longing
painful lamentation
from a rencong land

Flowing among
the waru leaves
embroidering misery
in a fragile slang

In silence
I hear the meuseuraya song
the echo of the tifa
accompanying my complaints

Counting seconds
under the ripe moon
leaning on the charm
of a silent beach

Here
in the dark curtained night
there I am
searching restlessly
in ratep

Searching for a face
in the shadow of the waves
on the line of destiny
that never fades
