Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How are you doing?
Fall and the gloom are here; winter is coming, but we can brighten our days with summer memories and the fun of holidays like Halloween. Yeah, in the fall you’ve got to enjoy summer beers, especially for #beersaturday—I can’t remember which one anymore.

I have two cans in front of me, both filled with wheat beers—one German and one Slovenian.
I'm already looking forward to sharing my experience of drinking these two wheat fruit beers with you.

First, the one with less alcohol

Can, 0.5 L, alcohol 5.1% ABV, IBU 30. Mango fruited wheat ale.

What do the Master Brewers say?

I’m quite familiar with the Green Gold Brewery. I’ve been tasting their beers for a few years; it’s one of Slovenia's higher-quality breweries.

The beer is cloudy, yellow-gold, with an average head. It has a tropical fruit aroma. On the palate, it goes down smoothly, with hop bitterness giving way to mango and grapefruit notes.
The aromas and flavors linger on the palate, making a lasting impression.

A very drinkable, refreshing, and flavorful beer!
It’s a well-balanced beer where the mango flavor doesn’t taste artificial or overly sweet. What surprised me most, though, was that I never realized it was a wheat beer.
You can find it locally at Hofer stores for €2.60, and I think I'll end up with a few more bottles in my fridge.

Erdinger Weißbier

Can, 0.5 L, alcohol 5.3% ABV, IBU 13. Wheat Beer - Hefeweizen.

What do the Master Brewers say?

The original since 1886. This classic wheat beer blends gently spicy malt aromas with mildly bitter hops. Its secret lies in our unique ERDINGER brewing yeasts. They provide the fruity notes and unmistakably fresh flavor. After the main fermentation process, we give our beer the time it needs to mature a second time in the bottle. ERDINGER Weissbier with fine yeast, the crowning glory of traditional Bavarian brewing skills. With its elegant flavour, this wheat beer is like no other. Last week I tasted Erdinger Helles, but their main beer is a wheat beer, so that’s what’s on the table now.

The beer is a cloudy yellow; the head is average and creamy, and it fades quickly. It has a malt and yeast aroma. It goes down smoothly; on the palate, I detect slight malt sweetness, along with notes of bread, banana, and cloves.
The aftertaste has a minimal bitterness that fades after a while.
