Hail to the Hive!

After nearly nine years we have returned to Jamaica to see @millycf1976 family and it has given me the opportunity to delve into a few of Jamaicas treats that I have sorely missed. One of these is of course

Coffee!

Now I am sure that the coffee lovers among you will have heard of Jamaicas proud export ‘Blue Mountain Coffee’ and of course will be aware of it’s high cost( wowswers is it expensive!) But what you may not know is that they can’t label the coffee ‘Blue Mountain’ unless it is cultivated above a certain altitude in that area of Jamaica. However, last time I was here I stumbled across ‘High Mountain’ coffee and found out that it is cultivated in the same area but just not above the altitude needed to be called ‘Blue Mountain. So all those years ago I gave it a test run.

@millycf1976 family didn’t really drink coffee so I bought a coffee filter machine and experimented with the ‘ high mountain’ coffee which was substantially cheaper than Blue Mountain. When I say cheaper I mean I didn’t have to apply for a bank loan to buy it 😜

To my great surprise and delight it was absolutely delicious. Strong yet smooth. Rounded yet robust and delicious.

So of course it was very high on my list of indulgences that I planned to get stuck into and I have very quickly fallen into a routine of drinking a whole pot of this delicious and wonderful black Jamaican gold every morning.

I am in fact typing this out while sipping away at this long missed beverage on the family porch smiling to myself and reminiscing about thenyears I had spent in Jamaica.

So I would strongly advise all you coffee fanatics out there to keep an eye peeled for Jamaican ‘High Mountain’ coffee. It won’t disppoint!
