Hail to the Hive!

I spent part of the day again in my new favorite place in Jamaica…….the in laws roof top! The climb up the ladder on the side of the house no longer scares me and it’s actually a really cool space. I think if it were my house I would have made a roof deck up here for sure.

A nice wide flat area to take off and land even if it can get a bit hot up here in the hot tropical sunshine.

The electricity wires are actually not as close as they appear and the main benefit for me being up here is the increased range I get as there’s a clear line of sight between the controller and the drone making for a stronger signal.

Immediately after lift off I will send it up to about 100m (330ft) and then send it off in the direction I want to shoot.

This enables me to send it a few KM in any direction allowing me to explore and get some good shots of the surrounding landscape.

I am getting braver and going slightly further each time but as soon as I get any delay in response or any warning ⚠️ signs I err on the side of caution ⚠️ and bring the bird home. No point taking any unnecessary risks.

Being able to travel a few km in each direction combined with the ever changing cloud formations makes for fun photography

I will miss my private rooftop landing spot though.
