This is a photo of the "Franzosendenkmal" (Frenchmen Memorial) between Loiben and Dürnstein.
It was erected in 1905 to commemorate the Battle of Dürnstein in the year 1905. In this battle Austrian and Russian troups successfully defeated Napoleon's troups.
In the nearby village Unterloiben you can still see cannonballs sticking in the walls of some houses.
If you have the chance to get there I recommend walking the Top Tour E which has a lengths of approximately 5 kilometers.
