This is Exploring the Chaos where I take a look on Chaos Legion cards including their subsets such as Riftwatchers and the Reward cards, as they brought new abilities and strategies that changes how the game was played.
For the past 3 weeks now, I've been making card reviews about the Core Rare cards of the Chaos Legion Set on how they are used in play and which of them are my favorite and has great utility when playing. So far, I was done with the Fire, Water and Earth Element and for this week, I'll be making a review for the Death Element.
Life Sapper is a 3- mana magic monster with the Life Leach ability beginning at level 1 which allows it to gain health every time it inflicts damage to the target.
At level 10, it gets the Redemption ability which inflicts 1 damage on all monsters when it dies.
Thaddius Brood is the rare Death Chaos Legion summoner which does not have any abilities it can grant but gives -1 magic and health debuff on all magic monsters.

Wands Out
Only monsters with Magic attack may be used in battle
This one was a tricky battle having Counterspell and Wands Out together on a low mana battle cause only magic monsters can be used on a match that magic damage gets reflected so here, I used Thaddius Brood for my summoner because not only it reduces the health of all opponent monsters permanently, it also reduces their magic attacks then, I use Life Sapper which I placed in the middle for it to be the target of attacks in order to trigger Redemption and deal 1 damage on all opponent monsters.
Monsters with Magic attack may not be used in battle.
Aim LEss
Summoners do not give any stat buffs or debuffs or grant/use any abilities.
On this battle we have Fog of War which makes most attacks to focus at the tank wherein Magic units were also banned. On this condition makes the use of lots of range monsters and that is wher Dhampir Stalker shines at none of its attacks will ever miss no matter how fast the opponent is so long that its ability is active. It also got huge range damage which makes it beneficial and allow to reduce the opponent's health faster.
Battle 3: Thaddius Brood, Cursed Windeku and Soul Strangler
For the last match, we only have 1 ruleset which is Born Again that gives the Rebirth ability on all monsters where only Death element can be used on this battle so I used Thaddius Brood to reduce the magic and health of the opponent. For my tank, I used Cursed Windeku which not only have huge health for a monster with only 6 mana, it also have Thorns to deal damage on any monster that attack this card, can sustain itself with Heal and Slow the opponent which allows my team to attack faster.
As for Soul Strangler, it's huge range damage could take many low mana monsters on a single attack and even if it did not, it can afflict the target with Poison which will deal 2 damage to them for every turn like what it did when it attacked Xenith Monk which not only deal 4 damage but also inflict poison on it.
Final Thoughts
It's a pattern for Death Summoners to give negative stats to the opponent rather than increasing the stats of its team and that does not change with Thaddius Brood that reduces both magic and health and a good counter against magic heavy team. The rest of the rare chaos monsters were also good on it's own depending on its use. For example, as long as its against melee and range team without stealth abilities, Cursed Windeku and Dhampir Stalker would be good to use meanwhile, both Life Sapper and Soul Strangler will be great at Little League battles.
