The number of rulesets in Splinterlands keeps on increasing, and just recently, another ruleset has been added. These rulesets are game modifiers that change the conditions of every battle for better or for worse. Sometimes, it can be your friend that will give certain abilities to your cards, while at times, it brings annoying debilitations that could cripple your team. Sometimes, it lets you have access to cards that you can't use in normal situations, but at times, it will also restrict which cards you can use, which results in you facing your opponent with a limited set of cards to choose from.
Such was the case with the newest Splinterlands ruleset No Mans land, which I will be talking about in this post.
If we include all the rulesets that have ever come in Splinterlands, including both those sunsetted and seasonal rulesets, we now have a total of 81 rulesets, and depending on the league that you were playing, you will get battles with more rulesets for up to 3 rulesets in a match. And among these rulesets, No Mans Land will be included in the rotation. And as I said, this ruleset is the kind that restricts the use of certain cards, specifically, Archons and Units with the human Bloodline.
With No Mans Land, Human Archons and units may not be used.
Since this is a ruleset that bans the use of units under the Human Bloodline, looking at how it will affect Modern Format, this ruleset will heavily affect the Rebellion Set, as many of the Archons in this set have Human bloodlines and, at the same time, they were also vital cards in the Modern Meta, particularly, Lorkus, Cryptic, and Elias Max Pruitt, which were all legendary Archons with dual element attributes.
But Conclave Arcana did not come out unscathed because this new ruleset has also banned the use of Dragonlord Mancer, which is undeniably the strongest Archon in Modern.
Since this is a ruleset that bans the use of certain cards, there was really no concrete strategy to triumph under this ruleset. The only thing that you can do is to just choose the Archon and units that make the most sense based on the mana cap and the other active rulesets, or build your deck based on Conclave Arcana since they were less affected by this ruleset.
Since the deck that I am using mostly uses Rebellion Archons, I am much more heavily affected by this new ruleset, where I just have to sometimes surrender a battle, since I don't have any cards to play, similar to Fallen Legends, Junior Varsity, and Little League, but thankfully, I haven't encountered No Mans Land, as much as the other three. But I bet that when Rebellion finally moves to Wild, this ruleset will be in play more often.
And with No Mans Land that restricts certain cards based on their bloodline, I will bet that we will see more rulesets that restrict different Bloodlines in the future.
