I have been on and off teaching for quite a few years. I started teaching production and logistics at one of the city's colleges when I was in my 30's, since then, I have been involved as an invited professor at some other institutions. A few years after getting involved in crypto, I have been giving a few lectures which have been mostly focussed on NFTs in the past two years. Tomorrow, I am teaching an NFT applications class to a group of business owners in a metro area city.
I focus the class in EVM chains, going through what is a blockchain, how a smart contract is deployed to issue the tokens, and how to define the most important elements such as choosing between the ERC protocol, deciding if it is going to be a soulbound NFT, or choosing how to split royalties. I go over free testnet tools such as Thirdweb, Zora Testnet, Unlock Protocol, and POAP
I then go through some of the platforms to create and deploy your contract and launch an easy minting page. To finalize talking how you can link utility to make the NFT way more valuable.
It is a three-hour class and there is plenty of information to go through as several of the enrolled have zero previous experience in blockchain. But it is fascinating to see how they start thinking about real applications as they start discovering the potential of these tools.
There are plenty of sites and tools out there you can use with EVM testnets to go through the process but none of them has a "linked" community as Hive has. It is a huge difference and I cannot wait for the VSC network, the smart-contract-capable second layer chain to be developed so I can use it as my main chain in future classes. I keep a close eye on its development to get ready when that happens.
