It is olive harvest season and I am leaving to Portugal early tomorrow. Getting the last stuff on the car which will be pact as usual and getting ready for the 10hr trip. I will spend a couple of weeks there and will try to also work on minor things on the house which still have to be finished.

I love this time of the year. Days are still nice and warm but mornings and nights are already cool. We may need to use the wood stove to heat the house several times during this two weeks which is also something I am looking forward as I have been using the butane heater but I do not feel very confortable using that.

I also would like to spend one day visiting Monfrague National Park in Spain. It is one of the biggest ones in the country and there are lot's of walking trails you can do. In this time of the year you may be lucky and hear the deer rut sounds.

There is lot's of fauna and flora species and the park holds one of the most important breeding populations globally of the black vulture and the griffon vulture nestled within the park's massive rocky cliffs is one of the densest and most numerous in Europe.

My wife will join me the second week and I will pick her up at a train station not far away from the park, so hopefully we can stop by and spend a couple of hours there taking a look at the views of the Tagus river and the animals around. I am sure, this time of the year there won't be as many people as during the summer. I love feeling close to nature and visiting this place is something I have been looking forward since we bought the farm.
