It was her sister's marriage and there was lot of excitement and preparation to go to this function. We could not go to the ring ceremony because of my accident ( if you remember this post), but this was a must go event. These are the functions where we meet our relatives and friends at one place, some for first time, some after decades. Those who live in far places come for this occasion only, and the reunion is so pleasant that, we barely want to leave each other. These few hours are like some golden memories of our life. And the preparation for this event has been going on for more than a month - she was very possessive about it.
Kids got new outfits and the lady was lucky to have a very special Saree from one of our best weaving places, Sonepur, famous for best quality silk Sarees - her best friend had been there and got this for her. And she did spend time to get these outfits for the kids - that modern dress for our daughter after visiting so many place. And the executive outfit for the boy - first timer. Seeing him I felt, they are getting younger and responsible.
The function was organized at Cuttack Club covering a very large area that could accommodate thousands of people. All the food items were spread over the entire area, to make it de-congested.
The lights around the swimming pool made the set up beautiful. A perfect backdrop for selfies /photos.
There were lot of varieties in starters, so tried a little out of all different types.
The boy did enjoy it to the fullest, being a fan of non-veg items. For us, meeting people was more entertaining than the food. The lady met her childhood friend after three decades, imagine what would be the reaction. She had come early with her family and were waiting for us before leaving. That is the kind of excitement we get in these events.
Together they spent a lovely time discussing about everything and eating at the same time. And then meeting with all her family members was so engaging that we almost forgot to realize that it was getting late in the night.
Shantanu Uncle (below) and his son (top) - met them after a long time. The son was a kid and now is an Asst Professor - time flies.
Here are her paternal aunts and their husbands, I met with one of her paternal uncle for the very first time. These photos will serve as a memory for all of us. It was so much fun to listen to them, just keep quiet and hear them. And we have got invitations to visit their place, probably next year, after my son's 10th board exam is over.
Met with Dr. Purna Chandra Mohapatra, the famous expert gynecologist with an amiable personality. The kids were inspired to hear him - a strong believer of destiny but a strong practitioner of science. As we had to come back, we tried only few items from the main course - the fish fry and mutton curry.
Coming back, took some more photos, life is full of memories.
By the time we reached home, it was 1 am, but we were so happy to meet all of her relatives / friends and spent a nice time.
