That's what keeps me busy the entire day. Managing a home alone is not easy. Yesterday I met my friend who told me that I was lucky to be not working because she is having a hell time leaving her kid with her family and going to work. I tried putting sense in her by saying managing a home, if not more, is equally tiring, but she insisted that I was lucky.
I gave it a genuine thought after I got home, but my analysis ended with "we both are having a hard time". Well, managing a home is not less work. I have no domestic helps while my friend who has a full time job has a cook and a domestic help who does all the house hold chores. Cooking, dishes, mopping and cleaning the house, washing clothes, ironing them and of course being a referee for my kids during their fights keeps me busy with only 6 hours of sleep.
It is sad that back here in India, home maker is not appreciated for her work and is considered incapable of working outside. Well, I have a post graduate degree on me and I can step out to work anytime, but I selected this life because my family needs me more.
At the end of the day, I am as tired as any other full time office going woman. But then, grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. My friend has never experienced the life of a home maker and if she does, I am pretty sure she would not like it.
