After a batch of weeding and clearing, we have to remember to hold the line with our work... otherwise, we will essentially repeating the whole thing again in a few weeks! And I'm not going to tell you how many times we have cleared this patch... we had the wall built by my wife's father... and then my mum cleared the ground of weeds and stuff... and we are still in a holding pattern as to what to do with the area... the original plan was a stone gravel path around the house... but now we have moved to thinking that it would be nice to have a deck on this side of the house instead.

... and so, we haven't done anything instead.. a deck would be nice, but we have other larger projects (such as a music instrument room) that have priority.. but we might be also fold it all into the same building project?

Anyway, seeing as all of that won't happen quickly... we have decided to put down heavy weed matting to stop all the unwanted growth coming back... at least this way, we will have a bit more time to think about what is going to happen. Or at least, until the matting deteriorates to the point where we have to re-lay it.

Meanwhile, we found a really nice wind charm to put out the front area... I was a little unsure, as I was worried that it might be too loud and carry the sound to annoy the neighbours... but to my surprise, it isn't at all loud... we did get longer ones, so that they aren't quite as shrill as some of the others on offer. And it really is a nice low soothing sound!

... but now my wife is worried that someone will just drop by and pinch them!
