We often have the wildest imaginations in life. We often think about the perfect life.Living in that dream house, driving around with that flashy car, going from one city to the other, and all of that. We have this world that we designed in our minds.
The problem with this kind of world is that it often keeps us in a place of safety. It’s a lot easier to live in that fantasy world than to face the real one. You’re not any different from the average person because everyone can think as far as they wish. It does not require any special skill set.
In that universe everything is perfect. But in the real world we know that there is no such thing as perfection. In that universe there are no risks involved. But in the world we live in risk is something that cannot be avoided if you want to achieve anything great in life.
The mental picture of life we conceive is no doubt important because you can never see yourself in a place that you have not already pictured in your mind. This reminds me of the movie X-men. There’s a character that has the ability to teleport into anywhere he wants. But one thing that I really found interesting about that guy is that despite his great power he still had a limitation. And that limitation is that he can never teleport himself to anywhere he hasn’t seen before.
This is also a reality about life. We get to certain places in life faster when we see it. You may not really know what you want until you see it. A man who leaves in a cave and has never seen a car his whole life will have no desire for it. At that point he is perfectly fine with moving around long distances on foot without any need for modern transport. But when you come across a reel on TikTok about the latest edition of Lexus, and see the features, that has a way of spiking up your interest. Which is just the first step.
The second step, which is the most important, is walking towards achieving it. Sadly, a lot of people barely make it to this step. Some procrastinate it because they tell themselves they are not ready; it’s not yet the perfect time. But there’s almost no perfect time for anything. You might never get anything done if you keep on hoping for the perfect time. Mistakes are permitted. Just because you make a few of them along the way does not make you one.
We only perfectly through mistakes. That is what makes learning adventurous. Imagine getting everything right the first time you try it out. You wouldn’t have much of a story to tell other people when sharing your experience with them, because in the real sense it wasn’t actually much of an experience. Growth always comes with new mistakes to be made. When we stop making mistakes we stop growing.
