It does not matter how thick the darkness of the night can be or how long it may seem to have lasted, but one thing is very certain; a new day must dawn. Amidst the darkest of the night, our hope lies in the fact that it cannot stop the dawn from coming. Amazingly enough, it is when the night becomes too dark that the hope of dawn because stronger because the dawning of a new day is just a few moments from the darkest point of the night. In the same way, when life brings its challenges and when they become stronger, one thing to know is that the prize is just around the corner.

If you are a football fan, you will understand that there is no competition as fiercely strong as the finals of a major league or championship. This is because the prize (which is the trophy) is already in sight. This means that each time the opposition or the resistance becomes stronger, then it is a very strong indication that you are close to your breakthrough, so do not give up. When I was younger, there was this combat game that is used to play then. The only way to know if you are on the right track to the mission is when you meet strong opposition. This taught me a lesson in life that, if challenges come, then it means that something great lies ahead. Obviously, you will agree with me that no one will bother to throw stones at a tree that does not have any fruit to offer.
When challenges come, it is not time to give up but a time to put in our best because it is only evident that something good is around the corner. As we progress in life and as we move high, we should be prepared to take on stronger challenges because that shows that we are getting matured. You will agree with me that when you entered secondary school, the exams you met there was not the same level of difficulty with the ones you took in primary school - obviously it was higher in secondary school. This is because something higher is already in view. Similarly, when the prize you desire is big, then you will be ready to pay a big price.
What keeps one going and makes one to keep putting in the effort to pay the required price is because of the hope of obtaining the prize. This is the same hope that keeps one during the darkest point of the night - the hope of dawn. So one thing you should keep even when going through the challenging and trying times of life is "hope." As long as you have not given up on hope and as long as you have not quitted, then the possibilities of something good happening are inevitable. Hope is basically built on the sustenance of life. That is, having the mentality of:
Once there is life, then there is hope
Giving up in the night time will exclude the person from being part of the beautiful morning. So you see, as long as life is sustained, giving up is not part of the options. If you have ever been able to overcome any challenge in the past, then you can also overcome the present. So you need to constantly build up yourself in other to be able to face the challenges as they come. The truth is that, people who give up at the face of challenges do so, not because their own challenges were fiercer than other people's own, but because they were not prepared enough for the challenge.
How long the night lasts before the dawning of the day is dependent on how prepared you are to face the morning. You should remember that the future does not happen by chance but it is a product of the choice of actions that one has taken in the past and present. Many people are anticipating the dawning of the day but how prepared are they for it? A very popular adage goes:
There is light at the end of the tunnel
But I tell you this, you do not necessarily have to wait until you have gotten to the end of the tunnel before you see light. You can enter the tunnel with your own light. This means that, whatever happens in life, you should always be prepared to face it and you cannot do it without building up yourself - psychologically, mentally, by acquiring knowledge, etc.

In life, you are not meant to get ready on the day of the challenge, you are to live ready to wait for it. Just the way you buy kerosene for your lamp before the night time so you will have what to use at night, and not going out in the night to hustle for the kerosene. You have to live ready because the night time is inevitable, so also is the dawning of the new day. But you have to survive the night first before you witness the dawn.
