What counts as success is not how hard you have tried or how many times you have made the attempt but the proof of your result. Having your eyes fixed on the result will help you to channel your processes and procedures aright. If attempts and hardworks count as success, then the people that engage in physically strenuous tasks (like laying bricks, bending iron rods, etc) will be considered the most successful people. What counts as success is the final result.

In an examination for example, it does not matter what you have read and how hard you have studied, it is the result you obtain at the end of the examination that will show to others your success or lack of it. The result you obtained carries more importance that the procedure and the format you employed to arrive at the result. If you want to go to a destination for example, there may be many connecting routes to that destination and anyone you take is your choice.

In view of this, it is worthy to note that even though your dreams, ideas and destinations remain constant, the procedures should be tailored to provide you with speed and accuracy. When one procedure does not seem to work, you do not have to be stuck with that procedure, neither do you need to change the entire dream.

As the trend of event changes and as the days go by, procedures should change to fit into the new waves and the new trends of event. The truth is, the procedure that brought success to someone a few years back may not guarantee success in this era, so you need to update and upgrade your procedures. More so, what counted as success in the time past may not make it to the front door in this age of insane competition. This is why you need to put the trend of event into consideration when going after success.

You should also know that success should continuously be worked on to improve, otherwise it might degenerate to failure in the later years. I believe this is the reason it has been said that success should be progressive and continuous, not static and not a destination. The reward for a "job well done" is to be given more opportunities for more jobs, so as to make yourself better. The time you stop to improve on yourself is the time your success ratio starts to dwindle.

When putting your ideas to work, you should focus your mind on the final result. There is a kind of motivation that comes from being focused on the result and it is this same motivation that will make you to keep going even when the road seems rough, and at the end, success will be achieved.
