It is weird to see people mistake failure for patience. They will just be consoling themselves with the words; "things will happen" or "it will get better" without doing anything. They tend to forget that it takes responsibility or action for you to see something get done. The truth is that what you are doing now is exactly the result you will experience in the future. Every great thing you see happening has someone or something behind it. Of course, even success itself is still a function of work. So you cannot sit and fold your hands and wait for the good things you need to be delivered to you. What you are waiting for is also waiting for you to take actions.

There was a time when a friend was telling me a story of how he passed a particular exam after failing it more than twice. The first time he wrote the exam, he thought that it was very difficult and he could not answer much question from it. But to his amazement, his other friend that he wrote the same exam with passed excellently well. But the next time he wrote it, he thought he knew it, but he also failed again. This same thing happened again and again until he finally decided to meet with his friends that have passed the exams to put him through on the principles that they applied to pass the exam.

When he met with his friends, each of them gave him the same principle and also told him how the exam was marked. They told him that the examiners that will mark the exam usually give negative marking to wrong answers. That is, there is a benchmark which they start marking from, but for any wrong answer given, mark will be subtracted from the benchmark. That is, if he answers the whole question but only passes half, the half that he failed will be deducted from the half that he got, and he will fail in the overall. So to avoid it, any question you do not know, you need to avoid it instead of guessing wrongly.

The principle seemed easy, but when he went in the next time to sit for the exam, he applied the methods that were told him by his friends and amazingly, he passed the exam and felt so happy about that. The truth is that if he had not done something about it and if he kept using his same old format, he will fail and keep failing until he gets tired of the exam. However, because he did the right thing, he was able to succeed at it. This is why I believe that you are the one that is absolutely responsible for the happenings and the results of your life. If you want a particular thing to happen to you, then you will need to take actions relating to that thing and it will give you the result you desired.

It is worthy to note that life will never be so fair to you that it will deliver things to you simply because you think you deserve it. Even if you deserve it, there is also a need for you to prove it by the kind of actions you take. If you have been seeing a particular occurrence in your life and you do not like it, you should not sit and wait for it to stop, neither will you fold your hands and wish for things to get better. The onus is on you to take relevant actions to stop it. In the same way, if you want to see something work in a particular way which is different from how it has been working, then you have the responsibility to effect your own change.

The change you want should, as a matter of fact, be initiated by you. If you do not take actions to initiate the kind of change that you want, you will be at the mercies of whatever action other people take, and it may not sit well with you. You cannot live your life to chance and hope to make it in life. You have to be intentional with your actions and know where you are going for you to get to where you are going to. You may not have control of many things in life, but what you have control of, you should get it to work for you. In life, you need to change what you can change and then accept what is beyond your ability to change. But more importantly, you need to be able to differentiate between both of them.

The way you prepare for the future is the way it will deliver for you. If you do not sow something during the planting season, then you have already excluded yourself from the blessedness of harvest. So in order to make something worthwhile in your tomorrow, you need to take actions today.
