Hello everyone. greetings to you all in the Ink well community. I hope you all are doing well. This is my first time posting in this community.I’m excited to learn, and share my own stories, and also interact with everyone here.
There was a boy in the University of Ibadan. This boy was named Abdul. He was an introvert and a very, or let me say, slow learner. So, up to now, it is not that Abdu cannot comprehend things, but he was a medium-average learner.
Abdul had a friend named Thomas. They were very close. They started their first year in the university together. This is how things went well between them. But there was a little thing that always disturbed Abdul and his friend.
Abdul was an average learner, while his friend Thomas was very smart and a sharp learner, a fast learner. So now, all Abdul's hope was to do well in school.
So, their first exam came. When they wrote the exam, Thomas's average was higher than Abdul's own. It was not that Abdu was jealous of Thomas's average, but he was just trying to see that he improved to be just like his friend.
Abdul can rap; that is, he can sing rap songs very well. He's good at that. But there is one thing about Thomas: he cannot sing at all. His voice isn't meant for singing. Not that he cannot develop it, but at that very point, he cannot sing.
So, whenever they had funny argument, Thomas will ask him, "Can you comprehend this?" In a very short period of time, he will bring up any topic, a new topic, and ask Abdul to explain it. But because Abdul, is an average learner, he couldn't do it until he studied and meditated very well.
So, Abdul would also bring up a song and sing it very well and sweetly, then ask Thomas to sing a song. When Thomas sings, they will all burst out laughing because his voice is very funny.
So, Abdul decided to use a strategy. He decided to read his books very well. So, when Abdu read his books, he read as much as, or let me say, Abdul read the same way as Thomas. The time that Abdu read his books was the same time that Thomas also read his books. So, they read their books together, and when the exam came, that was the second exam, Abdul now discovered that his friend was still ahead of him.
So now, Abdul was very confused, and he didn't know what to do again. Then, a thought came to him. His friend would only listen to lectures. After listening to the lectures, he would go back home and read his books, and he would understand what he read or what the lecturer taught them.
And this was the same thing that Abdul was doing. So, Abdul now decided to create a mass reading strategy. Abdul decided, in that very semester, to attend tutorials, and he asked his friend Thomas to join him.
But because Thomas already knew so many things and was a very smart student, once he heard the lecture and went back home to read, he understood so easily. But Abdul was not that type of learner.
So, he now decided to improve by including tutorials, and he asked his friend to join him. But his friend was not serious about it. So, Abdul just attended the tutorials in that very semester. He also increased the way he read before.
So, he attended tutorials, and those tutorials helped him a lot when the exam was close by. He also read very well and attended tutorials so seriously that when the exam came, they wrote it and got almost the same average.
And that was so amazing. His friend Thomas was so amazed by his performance, and he asked him, "How did you do that?"
Abdul explained to him about the tutorials he was attending. That was when Thomas understood, and Abdul realized that for him to go much higher, he had to increase his hard work.
Abdul was very happy, and this is how he continued improving academically. And graduated with the mindset that hard works pay a good price.
