The major part of the happenings in the life of someone can remotely be linked to who they associate with. You will agree with me that it is almost practically impossible to play inside the rain and your cloths not get wet. It is also practically impossible to play around smokey fire without your whole body picking up the smell of smoke. In the same way, you cannot keep negative people around you and expect any positivity in your life.

What you need the most times may not be the very best of humans but people that have the same destination as you and that makes them the right people for you. You may have a very bright future but associating with dim people can compromise that future. As much as you are trying to get better in life, also seek for a better company.
Here's a real story. A boy was raised in a very godly home because both of his parents were disciplinarians. He was growing in that nature until he entered university where the eyes of his parents on him were limited and it felt like freedom to him. Before long, he joined unwholesome associations and everything about him changed.
The very good boy of the family became something else. It got so bad that he started smoking and engaging in vices. He felt that was the way to live. Well, one day, when they were gathered together with friends, the local vigilante entered the place. Unknown to him, one of his friends was involved in a robbery case and was busted, so when they came for the other guy, he got involved too. Well, it took a long while to prove he was not among the robbery gang and he learnt his bitter lesson.
You see, all these would have been cheaply avoided if he had been conscious and careful of the kind of people he kept around him. The major undoing of many people is their company. The truth is; if the people you associate with are not positively impacting on your life and your destiny, then they are already negatively impacting on you.
If you want to go far, it is good that you associate with people that also have plans of going far - so that even if you want to faint along the way, they can provide you with both moral support and physical support. Remember this; you can only choose your friends but you do not have a choice of the effect of the friendship on your destiny.
Right friends = right effects

One very important thing to note is that for you to have the right people around you, you should also be the right person because "no one will leave his treasure with a stranger", and likeminded people will always attract likeminded people.
