In life, there is something that drives you and gives you a sense of purpose, which fuels your determination. That thing is called "passion." You will agree with me that when you do what you are passionate about and when you get it fulfilled, there is a level of joy that comes to you, with a complementary sense of achievement that comes with it. If your passion does not drive you to take steps and actions, then you are not passionate enough.

In the course of taking steps in the pursuit of your passion, you will face some risks, but it will be welcomed. Obviously, there is almost no way to make an outstanding achievement as a human without being exposed to one form of risk or the other. Risk is the ally of successful people. If you want to know if you are passionate enough about a particular thing, then observe the actions and risks you have taken towards that thing - you should have your answers with you. You tend to have affinity (even in your subconscious mind) about what you are passionate about. I mean, you will be drawn towards it and your actions will be centered around it. This is in affirmation to an excerpt from the Holy Book that says:

A man's heart is where his treasure is.

In this context; someone's dominant attention will be focused on their passion, so as to see it fulfilled. More often than not, what you are normally drawn to, and what you fantasise about may be where your purpose lies. I have a friend that, when we were growing up, he loved anything relating to water. It was very unusual but that was what we discovered about it. When he finished from secondary school, while his classmates were buying the JAMB university entrance examination form, he applied to a maritime school to be trained as a sailor. The school fees were very much on the high side and when he got the admission, his parents were not able to pay the fees.

However, this did not dampen his passion to become a sailor. During the course of the admission process, he got to find out that there was a scholarship provision available for the student that will top the class, and the scholarship will remain valid as long as the student remain at the top. That particular semester, he put in his very best because he knew that it was his only chance of paying his tuition. At the end of the semester, he emerged top of the class and earned the scholarship. Throughout his years in the maritime school, he maintained a clean sheet and remained at the top of the class so as to retain the scholarship.

His passion was what drove him towards excellence and at the end of the school years, he was commissioned as a sailor to fulfil his childhood desire and passion of sailing. Against all odds, ranging from lack of finances, poor background, etc, he rose to fulfil his desires because his passion drove him. This is why I believe that nothing drives one and gives them the required push in life like passion. But one of the things to always know is that it may not be easy to pursue after your passion but it will be worth it at the end. Everything that has value must definitely come at a price. Just like in the case of my friend, he had to sacrifice a lot of things; like social life, comfort, his sleep (most times), just to study hard to maintain the scholarship.

In the course of the pursuit of your passion, you will be met with challenges and oppositions, but you should not let them distract you from what you want to achieve. There may be times that your first attempt towards your goal may fall short of your desire, but you need to persevere and keep trying. After all, failing at an attempt does not mean that your cannot hit your target in the next attempt. More so, to the determined, failure is simply an experience in the journey of life that will give way for massive success. So when you allow your passion to drive you, you will not see failures, but only successes.
