What is passion in front of hunger? Passion has no say when bills accumulate. Fuck passion, we are going to do what it takes to survive, even if it means taking jobs we do not like. If it means giving up on our passion, that is how it is going to be.
If we are talking about passion or financial security, the answer is already clear when it comes to me. I was never a writer. I do not like writing, and I was never good at writing, but when the opportunity came for me to write and earn, I grabbed it as quickly as I could because this life is far better than the teaching job I was into. Writing on the Hive platform has paved the way for me. It has taken me to places that the teaching job could never take me.

To be honest, teaching is also my passion. I love imparting knowledge to others. It makes me feel good that I am able to impact someone's life through my ability, and the honour I get from parents for helping their children is worthwhile. But the salary was nothing. It could not even take care of my expenses, so when the writing opportunity came, I let go of my passion to start writing. And now? My writing has improved far more than when I started.
This is the story of many people. They do not like their jobs, but they have to do them because those jobs offer them more financially. Some end up liking those jobs, while others just hate them more, but they have no other option than to keep working until better opportunities come.
