My share for the #beersaturday community. This is a throwback one, as it features a very solid IPA from Marquette, Michigans's BlackRocks Brewery.
I used to be very adventurous with craft beer. Whenever I went to a new area of the country or world, I'd always get something local to try for beer. Some were good...most, however, were not. Still, I liked the adventure of it all.
As I've gotten older and more snooby, I typically find myself going with something I know is good when out and about. I mean, if I'm going to pay $150 USD for four pack, I want to know it's worth it. Yet, for whatever reason while on vacation in the UP, I felt it was worth trying something new and local...and that's when I found the Blackrocks MyKiss IPA. Yum.
That, above, was our backyard on Lake Superior courtesy of our Air B&B rental. What a place to enjoy a few 7.5% ABVS IPA every afternoon and night.
This American IPA is filled with delicious Simcoe, Mosiac, and Citra hops...my favorites. The beer didn't disappoint...and for a week, I was able to a) enjoy a few of these each night while b) supporting the local econonmy. The fact this beer was smooth and delicious made all of it much more enjoyable.
It's been a few weeks since we were there, and I already miss those nights on the shoreline. I also kind of miss those beers too. So, if you are ever in the wonderful area known as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and enjoy a decanks ent brew, I'd highly recommend checking out BlackRocks. You won't be disappointed!
