Why does modern art look so UGLY, and similar in every art gallery? Why do artists not create new viewpoints and movements? Why is every well known modern art- artist still working with the same concept, Duchamp was using in 1917, making the beauty lays in the eye of the beholder- argument when he showed his urinoir in an exhibition. Does this aesthetic relativism still make sense in our time? Art with no standards, just an personal expression. I am getting tired watching in Modern Art Galeries the work of artist who either put trash at the floor, to make the Duchamp statement, or looking at shit in a bottle. Duchamp made his conceptual point in 1917, but I question the way artists of new generations, especially the so called millennium generation, repeat Dutchamp concept as a mantra without adding anything on their own. I am no longer shocked, are you? I do believe the quality in art is traceable. You can make an statement - in order to shock- but it should never be at the expense of the visual excellence of the artwork.
