Hello Splinterlands warriors, how are you today?
Hopefully you still have enough energy to think about strategy… even though sometimes it feels like we’re the ones being “strategized against.” 😄
This time, I want to talk about a skill that might not look flashy, but its effect can make a team far stronger than it appears. That skill is Shield Ward, and the card that really made me realize its power is: Virid Venomancer.
Virid Venomancer is an Earth-element monster with a mana cost of 5. At first glance, it doesn’t seem special:
But that’s exactly where the surprise lies.
At level 3, it unlocks what I think is an incredible ability:
Shield Ward.
This skill grants Shield to the monster in front of it.
What does that mean? The monster that would normally take full damage from melee and ranged attacks… now only takes half.
After seeing its performance, I realized:
Virid Venomancer isn’t a fighter. It’s an enabler.
With a combination of:
It becomes a “complete support” in a single slot.
There was one moment that really opened my eyes… unfortunately from the losing side.
In that battle, my opponent used a simple but annoying combo:
And suddenly:
The result?
Each round, it got tankier.
Every attack I made… felt like hitting a wall that kept getting harder.
I tried everything:
But it wasn’t enough.

That’s when I realized:
sometimes the problem isn’t the front monster…
but who’s standing behind it.
What makes Shield Ward so interesting is its simplicity.
It doesn’t attack directly.
It doesn’t change big numbers dramatically.
But its impact:
And in a game like Splinterlands,
time is everything.
Of course, this skill has weaknesses.
Virid Venomancer has:
That’s why positioning is crucial:
Wrong placement?
It gets eliminated… and Shield Ward disappears with it.
If you ask me about Virid Venomancer?
The honest answer:
not flashy… but dangerous if ignored.
Strategies you can apply:
And one final takeaway:
don’t just focus on attacking—learn to reinforce.
Because in Splinterlands, victory doesn’t always come from who destroys the fastest…
but from who lasts the longest.
See you in the arena. And this time, pay attention… to who’s standing behind your opponent’s tank. 😉
