Quiet but Deadly: The Hidden Power of Runeseer Sevaya

Hello Splinterlands warriors, welcome back to another post about Splinterlands and all its excitement. And there’s one type of card I used to underestimate—a card with no attack. Yes, the kind that seems to just stand there in the lineup, without any damage numbers to get your heart racing. But everything changed when I got to know one name: Runeseer Sevaya.

The first time I saw this card, honestly, I was a bit confused. It’s a Legendary monster from the Dragon element, with a mana cost of only 4… but it has no attack at all. I even muttered to myself, “what is this supposed to do in the arena?”

But it turns out—that’s exactly where its strength lies.

Even at level 1, Runeseer Sevaya already brings two important abilities: Cleanse and Protect. Cleanse works like a “sin washer” for the team—removing all negative effects from the tank instantly. Meanwhile, Protect gives +2 armor to the entire team.

So even though it doesn’t attack, it ensures all its teammates can survive longer.

And in Splinterlands, surviving just one extra round… often means winning.

I really started to feel its impact during a high-mana battle. Normally in those situations, we tend to focus on maximizing damage. But this time, I faced Runeseer Sevaya in my opponent’s lineup.

The result? When paired with Rage, it turned into a magic monster.
That’s when I began to understand—this is a card built for fast wins. And with the right monster combinations on the enemy side, I found myself overwhelmed and had no choice but to acknowledge its strength.

What impressed me even more about Runeseer Sevaya was when its next abilities unlocked:

• Blind → makes enemy attacks miss more often
• Repair → gives the team’s armor a “second life”
• Amplify → increases damage from Thorns, Return Fire, and Magic Reflect

It’s like a card that stays quiet… but secretly controls the flow of the match.

If I had to compare it, it’s not a frontline fighter. It’s more like a coach on the sidelines—not playing directly, but making sure every strategy works.

Of course, this card isn’t without its challenges.

Since it has no attack, you really need to make sure the slot it takes is “paid off” by its effects. If your lineup lacks damage or doesn’t use weapon training, then it’s pointless—you’ll survive longer, but won’t be able to defeat your opponent.

The most interesting thing for me about Runeseer Sevaya is how it changed the way I think.

I used to always ask: “How much damage does this card deal?”

Now I’m starting to ask: “How long can this card keep my team alive in battle?”

And that’s a pretty big shift.

My impression?
Runeseer Sevaya is a small card with a huge impact. It’s not flashy, but its presence is felt in every round.

Strategies I’ve taken from this experience:

• Use it in low to mid mana battles for maximum efficiency
• Combine it with a strong tank or Taunt unit
• Take advantage of synergy with Thorns / Magic Reflect for Amplify
• Make sure you still have a main damage dealer on the team

Because in the end, Runeseer Sevaya won’t win the battle on its own…

…but without it, that victory might never come.
