Hello, fellow Splinterlands players!
There’s some new news from Praetoria that has made me take another look at the Voucher Shop. Not because Vouchers have suddenly turned into treasure, but because on September 30, 2026, three new cards will be arriving at once: Ruckus Rootpaw, Bakko Vharos, and Vaelira Silverwake.
Three cards, three characters, and of course, three new reasons to spend Vouchers.
First up is Ruckus Rootpaw, a Common card from the Canisan race. He is described as a Canisan who carries a bullseye into battle.
there’s Bakko Vharos, a Rare card, an Ulund whose arrows seem to be guided by those who have already died.
And the one that caught my attention the most is Vaelira Silverwake, a Legendary card from the Elven race, an archer whose signal can summon a storm of arrows.
Just looking at their descriptions, it already feels like these three are more than just additional cards. They bring new dual-element options to the lineup. That’s what I find interesting, because the more elemental options we have, the more possibilities there are when building a team.
But there’s another thing that has me quite curious: Foil.
All three cards will be available in Regular Foil, Gold Foil, Black Foil, Gold Foil Arcane, and Black Foil Arcane. And this is where things start to shift from simply “I want to own this card” to “I want to own a rare version of this card.”
For Gold Foil Arcane, the supply is extremely limited. There are only 25 copies of Ruckus Rootpaw, 10 copies of Bakko Vharos, and just 3 copies of Vaelira Silverwake. That’s only 38 Gold Foil Arcane copies in total.
If that’s not enough to get your heart racing, Black Foil Arcane is even crazier: only 10, 5, and 1 copy, respectively. So for Vaelira Silverwake, there is only one Black Foil Arcane copy to chase. At that point, it’s no longer just about owning a card. It’s entering the territory of “if luck comes knocking, don’t ask where it came from.”
The mechanics are interesting too. The cards are purchased using Vouchers, with a chance of receiving a Gold Foil or Black Foil instead of a Regular Foil. Alchemy Potions increase the Gold Foil chance from 2% to 4%, while Midnight Potions double the chance of getting a Black Foil.
There is also a guarantee that makes the system a little clearer. Buying 50 copies of the same card in a single transaction guarantees one Gold Foil. If you use the full Alchemy Potion requirement, that threshold drops to 25 copies.
Gold Foil Arcane copies can then be chased through Fortune Draws, while Black Foil Arcane copies will be available through Black Foil Arcane Auctions. Each Fortune Draw guarantees at least one Regular Foil of the card currently being offered as the prize. The tickets themselves are created by landowners and can be obtained on the open market.
For me, this system is exactly what makes the release of these three cards feel different. We’re not simply waiting for new cards to play with; we’re also being drawn into a game of collecting and luck.
Personally, I see Ruckus Rootpaw as the lighter entry point, Bakko Vharos starts to feel more exclusive, while Vaelira Silverwake is clearly the card that makes collectors look twice.
My take: these three Voucher Cards bring two things at once—additional strategy through dual-element options and a new challenge for collectors. If I had enough Vouchers, I’d look at how useful the cards are in battle first, and only then think about the Foil versions.
Because in the end, the most valuable card isn’t always the rarest one. Sometimes, the cards we use the most are the ones that leave us with the best stories.
