Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!

There are only two days left until the new season begins in early October, but I’m still not ready to give up. I’m still chasing my 100-battle target, while at the same time trying to maintain my position in Modern Mode.

The journey toward Gold I turned out to be anything but smooth.

After losing several battles, I had to accept the fact that my win rate was dropping too. From my previous progress, it eventually settled at around 69%.

Yep, 69%.

Still pretty decent, but seeing the win rate drop because of several consecutive losses feels a bit like watching your bank balance go down. Both can leave you staring into the distance for a moment.

But I kept playing.

Battle after battle, I kept going until, before I knew it, I finally reached Gold I.

And as soon as I saw the Gold I rank appear, one thing immediately came to mind: Loot Chests.

Gold II had already given me several Rare cards and some pretty decent items, so naturally I started hoping that the Gold I chest would bring something even better.

I opened the chest with curiosity.

“Gold I, don’t be shy. Show me what you’ve got.”

And as it turned out, the result really did feel better.

This time, I got an Epic card.

Its name is Rila Fen, from the Life element.

Now that definitely made me smile.

After getting several pretty good cards in Gold II, I finally had an Epic added to my collection. It felt like a small bonus after spending quite a while fighting my way up the tiers.

Besides Rila Fen, I also received several other cards: Surgeblade, Dragonfang Lancer, Grim Bonewhip, and Cullborn Revenant.

Interestingly, Surgeblade made up a significant portion of the rewards this time. But there was another card that gave me a different kind of surprise: Dragonfang Lancer.

It turned out that I already had enough copies to make it level up.

And of course, leveling up isn’t just about improving the stats. Dragonfang Lancer also gained a new skill.

For me, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes Loot Chests interesting. We might hope for a Legendary, but sometimes a card we already own is actually just a few BCX away from leveling up. Once the extra BCX from the chest brings the total high enough, the card immediately evolves.

So this chest opening gave me two things to be happy about: Rila Fen as a new Epic card and Dragonfang Lancer leveling up.

In my opinion, that’s already a pretty fitting reward for the journey to Gold I.

Now there’s just one problem left.

Diamond III.

With only two days remaining before the new season, I still want to try pushing for one more tier. Whether I make it or not, at least I’ll have given it a shot.

If I lose a few times and my rating drops again, well... let’s not get too emotional about it. This is Splinterlands, not a promotion exam.

For now, I’m happy enough with what I got from Gold I.

There’s an Epic Rila Fen, along with Surgeblade, Dragonfang Lancer, Grim Bonewhip, and Cullborn Revenant. And on top of that, Dragonfang Lancer is now even stronger after gaining its new skill.

Gold I has been reached. The chest has been opened. Now we’ll see whether the remaining two days are enough to take me to Diamond III.

If there’s still enough time, I’ll give it a shot.

If not, at least this season has left me with a pretty enjoyable story.

See you in the next battle, Splinterlands warriors!
