Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!
After jumping back into Brawl with the guild, I finally accumulated around 10K Merits. That is enough to visit the Guild Shop again and exchange them for 5 Gladius Cases.
Such is the life of a Splinterlands player. Battle after battle is fought—sometimes winning gloriously, sometimes losing while trying to understand your own mistakes. But as long as you keep participating in Brawls, there is always hope that Merits will accumulate and can eventually be traded for Gladiator cards.
This time, I was holding five packs. A simple question naturally came to mind: would there be a Legendary card this time, or would I have to make peace again with Commons, which often appear in far greater numbers than one's hopes?
I didn’t want to waste time. I went straight for Flip All so every card would be revealed at once. Practical, fast, and it cuts down on giving myself too much time to fantasize before seeing the actual outcome.
The first pack opened. Four Common cards appeared, accompanied by one Rare card, Captain Katie. A decent opener, even if there was nothing mind-blowing yet.
Then I opened the second pack.
Now, this time brought good news. Four Commons appeared again, but one Epic card joined the pull: Quora Towershead!
For me, this was a fantastic pull. Quora is a card I use quite frequently in battle. Getting an extra copy isn't just about bumping up collection numbers—it actually helps level up a card that is deeply rooted in my strategy.
When it comes to cards I play often, I'm far happier getting extra BCX for them than getting a card that just sits in the collection, occasionally stared at like an old keepsake photograph.
The third pack yielded four Commons and one Rare, Cutter Brieze. Still no Legendary, but I remained calm. After all, there were still two packs left to open.
Then the fourth pack delivered another surprise: Edith Emberstar, another Epic card, alongside four Commons.
Wow, two Epics out of five packs! In my opinion, that alone made this pack opening a truly satisfying experience.
Finally came the last pack. The outcome reverted to four Commons and one Rare, Kotriphus Bayne. No Legendary appeared right to the very end. It seems Legendary cards are still choosing to keep their distance from me.
That’s alright. We aren't forcing anyone to come over to our house, after all.
Once all the cards were revealed, I checked my collection to see if any cards were ready for an upgrade. It turned out Krash Wanderford and Cutter Brieze both had enough BCX to reach Level 6.
Without hesitation, I upgraded both of them right away.
Granted, no new abilities were unlocked with this level upgrade. Even so, card progression still matters. At the very least, my collection is maturing, and both cards gained stats suitable for their new level.
What I love most about this system is its connection to Brawl. Merits don't just fall into your lap. You have to participate in battles, be an active part of a guild, and gather them bit by bit before you can finally open packs.
Ten thousand Merits this time yielded two Epics, several Rares, and plenty of Commons. Not perfect, but thoroughly satisfying. Quora Towershead was definitely the highlight for me, while Krash Wanderford and Cutter Brieze have now advanced to Level 6.
As for the Legendaries, we'll try our luck again next time.
See you in the next Brawl, Splinterlands warriors!
