Hello, Splinterlands warriors!

Something feels different about this Sixth Escalation Conflict announcement. The story is taking a dark turn. First, the drakes were found dead. Then, members of the Dragonsguard began to fall one by one. No wounds, no signs of a struggle, not even an explanation. Now, the Matriarch of the Church of Helios has also been found dead. Something is clearly wrong in Praetoria.

Amid this mysterious atmosphere, a new card has arrived: Oblivion.

Oblivion is a Legendary monster of the Dragon element, with a mana cost of just 3, and belongs to the Fiend Bloodline. It appears as a skeletal figure draped in tattered robes, moving through the darkness with glowing golden eyes. It doesn't say much, leaves no wounds, but always leaves a victim behind. If there were an award for the most terrifying appearance, I think it would certainly deserve a nomination.

However, what really catches my attention isn't just its appearance. Oblivion brings something quite special: three Tactic options—Sneak, Apex Strike, and Halving.

With Bloodline Dominion, Fiend units can be summoned from any available element. Meanwhile, at max level, Oblivion can grant one of these three Tactics to two allied units. You have to choose one; you don't get all three at once.

The first option, Sneak, makes two allied units target the opponent's monster in the last position. This is ideal for disrupting backline support units that usually feel safe hiding behind their tank.

Second, Apex Strike directs attacks toward the opposing unit with the highest Power. In my opinion, this is an interesting option for dealing with powerful monsters that serve as the backbone of an opponent's strategy.

Then there's Halving. This Tactic immediately reduces the Attack Power of two opposing units by 50%, rounded down. For example, a monster with 5 Attack will drop to 2. Keep in mind that this effect doesn't grant them the Halving ability; it directly reduces their attack strength instead.

Now, this is the part that gets me excited. With a mana cost of just 3, Oblivion has the potential to become an incredibly flexible strategic tool. All we have to do is read the opponent's formation and decide whether it's better to hunt down the backline, target the strongest monster, or weaken two attackers at once.

Of course, I wouldn't say that one Tactic is always better than the others. Sneak is ideal for hunting down support units, Apex Strike is useful for dealing with the main threat, while Halving can be the right choice when the opponent relies on heavy attacks. The key is to read the situation, not just pick a Tactic at random.

There's also an interesting community touch to this release. Oblivion arrives bearing the name of BraveTofu, who secured first place in the Escalation presale. It's a reminder that Splinterlands isn't just about cards and battles, but also about the community that helps shape the game's journey.

Oblivion is an intriguing 3-mana Legendary because it offers flexibility rather than just raw power. The best strategy is to choose a Tactic that suits the opposing lineup and take advantage of the Fiend Bloodline to unlock more elemental options.

Sometimes, victory isn't determined by who hits the hardest, but by who chooses the right target. And once Oblivion gets to work, the opponent had better not get too confident. After all, not every death in Praetoria leaves a wound behind. 😄
