How’s everyone doing? Today, I’d like to share an exciting story about one of my best battles in the Splinterlands arena. This match was absolutely thrilling as it showcased the power of combining poison and cripple strategies—an unexpectedly effective combo, even when facing some challenging rulesets.

This battle featured three main rulesets: Armored Up – All monsters receive bonus armor. Odd Ones Out – Only monsters with odd mana costs are allowed. And Aim True – All melee and ranged attacks are guaranteed to hit their target.

To add to the challenge, the mana cap was only 15, requiring me to think extra hard about selecting an efficient team. Fire element was also unavailable, further limiting my choices.

I decided to go with a summoner that applies the Cripple ability—DALLAN. With this effect, every successful attack reduces the enemy’s maximum health, even if their armor is still intact.

Here’s the lineup I chose for my team:

  • HALFLING REFUGEE as the main tank. A sturdy pick despite the low mana cost.
  • CHAOS JAILER utilizing its opportunity attacks and deadly poison.
  • URAEUS, a versatile monster with Poison and Sneak, targeting the enemy’s backline.
  • CHAOS AGENT and CARRION SHADE as filler monsters to make the most of the remaining mana.

From the start, I knew the combination of Poison and Cripple would prove highly effective.

HALFLING REFUGEE stood strong in the frontline, absorbing hits like a champ. Meanwhile, URAEUS and CHAOS JAILER began wearing down the opponent with their poison attacks. Poison slowly chipped away at the enemies’ health, even bypassing their armor. On top of that, Cripple reduced their maximum health, leaving them increasingly vulnerable.

My opponent tried to hold the line with monsters that had healing abilities, but the constant barrage of poison and relentless attacks eventually overwhelmed them. In the final round, my remaining monsters took down their last defender, securing a glorious victory. 🎉

Conclusion and Lessons Learned

This battle demonstrated the importance of choosing the right strategy to match the ruleset. Even though the opponent had advantages with armor and healing, the combination of Poison and Cripple turned the tide in my favor. This strategy is incredibly effective against tanky monsters with high defenses.

What do you think of this strategy? Have you tried a similar approach? Let me know your thoughts! 😊
