I used to have a lot of body fat when I was younger, then anything that looked like, smelt like or felt like food to me was definitely going down my stomach in an aggressive manner. Along the years I started falling in love with fitness and basketball, while my love for food was and is still very strong I've gotten fit to a large extent, still improving and getting better cause it's a life time thing. I think everybody deserves to get the type of body he or she wants, absolutely. So if you want to be fit and healthy here are some tips I've learnt, that have helped me and still helps me....

The Right mindset
I believe life is more mental than physical, so before starting a life journey like this one should get his/her mind prepared. How do you do that?, ask yourself the right questions like
Why do I want to be fit?
Am I willing to follow through?
What do fit and healthy people do?
How can I get fit and enjoy the process?, etc
Since it's a process, understand it's not just going to happen in a day. So love yourself regardless of your size or fitness understanding you're taking the journey because of how much you love yourself. So exercise patience, keep to your grind and stay positive. Staying positive is very important, well basically in everything in life. So if you miss some days on your calendar, don't mourn it for long. Keep on the grind.

Eating Healthy
So personally I still eat much and lots of time though I make sure I don't eat so late and avoid excessive fatty foods. I'm no expert in eating healthy so depending on your eating habit and what you eat you might have to get an experts health (which could be found online). Adding more fruits and vegetables to your meals is important in staying healthy.

Having rituals/routine
Just like Anthony Robbins says "our rituals are what define us". Seeing an athletic or a built man/woman immediately tells you how often he/she puts in work. So create a routine fitting in to your weekly schedule. It's important to start with what you believe is feasible for you so you don't quit fast thinking "it's not just for me", on the long run you can add more days, workouts, reps to your routine. So days you're not in the mood of feeling like following, push yourself because you have a routine to follow up.

Start up a sport
If possible start up a sport, mine is basketball. I love basketball because of how dynamic, athletic, intellectual it is. Basketball was and still is a big motivation for me in keeping fit because I always want to be my best at what I do. So I'm always looking forward to dunking in anybody, FYI if you see me on court don't stay under that rim. So starting a sport you like will definitely be motivation for you to put in some work and follow through. Sport is something that drives the soul, and ofcourse we all want to be special at anything we start. So start one, other activities could also be motivation to keep fit e.g. dancing, going to the beach, modelling, going to the pool. So just pick the one that works for you.

Have role models
It's also helpful if you have a role model or an exact type of shape you want, hence know what you want. Find out things this people do to keep fit and healthy. I have a lot of basketball players I consider models, the likes of the king LeBron, Westbrook, wade, Zach Levine etc. Ofcourse I want to be athletic on the court like LeBron or Westbrook and dunk freely like Zach, more reasons for me to put in work.

Start now
A lot of people give a lot of excuses when it comes to working out and keeping fit. A very popular one is "I don't have enough money to register in a gym" or "there's no gym close by". Truth is you don't necessarily need a gym, if you have one close by and the cash super cool. If not start from your house, there are a lot of workouts that can be done but indoors and out without a gym e.g. running, sit ups, plank, roman twist, press ups, a whole lot. So educate yourself on the type of workouts you need to add to your routine to give you the body you desire.

Hope this was helpful
Stay fit and health
No excuses.
