Celebrating National Coffee Day in another country! | The Coffee Shop Prompt Week 187 [EN-ES]
Hello, coffee lovers!
This week, @cinnccf invites us to talk about a coffee shop abroad where we couldn't understand the conversations happening around us.
@cinnccf also asks us to reflect on how that lack of familiarity influenced our perceptions, so I’d like to share an experience I had in Venezuela and Spain a few years ago.
First of all, congratulations to all coffee lovers in the U.S., as National Coffee Day was celebrated there yesterday!
We celebrated by drinking coffee at Baba Yaga, a venue that captures some of the magic of that American audiovisual series and transports us, to some extent, into that atmosphere.
Something is happening here that surprised me the first time I visited Venezuela and Spain—and made me feel sad for a moment. I am referring to seeing so many people completely absorbed in their electronic devices, failing to socialize in person with those around them—even with the very people sitting at their tables, sharing the ritual of drinking coffee.
Even though the language is the same, we sometimes encounter people in these places discussing topics we don't fully grasp—whether due to their highly specific nature or their superficiality. That, too, is curious. Hasn't that happened to you?
I order another coffee—this time a café cortado, which is simply coffee with a splash of milk. I savor its aroma, take a sip, and begin to say goodbye—but not without offering each of you a hug of light!
Never stop smiling!
This is my participation in the contest that @cinnccf proposes to us through the #CinnamonCupCoffee community.
