Hello friends of this community, and in this publication I will reflect with you on how our children can fall into a state of depression and how you can help them; And to begin, I tell you that we know someone who has a 7-year-old son who has had a lot of problems at school, who does not learn what they teach him, and his mother took him to the doctor and they obviously diagnosed him with attention problems and depression. .
Imagine that a depressed 7-year-old child, when you had heard about something like that, the truth is that it shocked me a lot and what shocked me the most is that now the child is taking medications, such as antidepressants and other types of things that they are given to treat this type of mental problems, personally I think that we should not run to the doctor immediately when we are sick, obviously doctors have their role and so do medications but before taking a pill to try to fix everything I think we can try other more natural things .
I recently read a book called “Simplicity parenting” and I liked the premise of the book because it said that we can use the power of having less to raise safer, calmer and happier parents and the whole idea of the book focuses on creating a home in which we do not have things just to have them, because when we have so many objects it overstimulates the children and if you give them a lot of toys, a lot of books, a lot of clothes and all of this in excess, the children tend to feel a lot of anxiety and get stressed because they don't know how to choose.
When the child has 40 movies they can watch, 50 toys they can play with, a lot of clothes they can wear, their room is full of colors, lights, sounds, that affects them a lot because when they go to school they don't You can rest assured, I think the time in front of a screen with phones is affecting children a lot and I also see it in myself, I realize that when I wake up in the morning and immediately pick up my phone all day I feel kind of anxious. , I don't concentrate on what I have to do and I'm not present, now imagine how being on a phone all day can affect such a small brain that has not developed.
I read somewhere that when we wake up in the morning and immediately pick up the phone it's like we invite 100 people into the room to talk, and yes, it's that feeling when I do them because you start to see all this information, images, sounds, voices. , music and you are moving the screen and that overstimulates you and makes you feel anxious, this book also talks about having certain rituals at home and having a certain structure when designing your children's day, if they are always from here to there and everything is very improvised, the children do not know exactly what time they have to go to sleep, when they have to eat, when they have to wake up, when they can play with the phone and so on.
All of this means that they are scattered everywhere and obviously that your small mind is also very distracted. What I would like to suggest is that you apply the principles of minimalism in your home if you have children. Many people tell me that it is very difficult because Children have toys and yes I understand that!, but I also believe that the Mental Health of their children is already at stake, at the end of the day parents are the ones who decide when to buy a toy or not, it is not like the child has money and they can go to the toy store to buy everything they want, parents buy all this for themselves thinking that maybe they are giving them love.
But what we are seeing in these times or in these years, is that there are more and more children with these types of mental problems, but in truth what I am telling you about a child diagnosed with depression seems something super unreal and sad at the same time. , try to apply the principles of simplicity, get rid of so many toys, if you have many, give them to other children, do not buy toys just to buy, reduce the number of lights you have in your children's bedroom, remove as much stuff from the walls and Simplify your children's routine so that this doesn't happen to them too.
