Hello everyone, today, I want to discuss about a topic which has been bothering me for a while. That is "should we bring children in a toxic world like this?," I am not thinking about politics or anything. When I question myself all I could think of was my two young daughters, their face was showing when I thought about it. When my daughters smile, or ask innocent questions, I feel both happiness and fear at the same time. Because the world won't treat them the way me and my wife does. I love my children more than anything but it scares me a lot that what kind of world they will grow up in.
For now, I will say it is not ethical to keep bringing children into this world. I am being honest, I did not know about the world's reality before but now slowly everything is being disclosed to us. I don't think it is the right choice anymore. This might sound harsh but I am not saying it without any proper logic, I saying it out of concern and love for children.
For example, a month ago, I took my daughters outside for a walk there my daughters found a puppy on the street. It was not moving at all. That day, it was a scorching hot weather and the puppy seemed really thirsty. So, I asked my daughters not to touch the puppy because it could bite but my daughters didn't care about that. They just wanted to save the puppy, so we waited for its mother to return. Meanwhile, my daughters brought some water and biscuits for the puppy. I noticed that they care so deeply about that puppy. In conclusion, children are not born villain. They do not come into this world with hate or selfishness. They usually learn it from the surroundings which is the world around them. They learn what they see.
To be honest, I am worried about this the most. Another is common these days we see wars, rise of price, crimes, natural disasters, and many more things. Many places in Bangladesh are becoming harder to live in because of floods. Some people even lost their house and everything because it drowned. Some of them are suffering from illness for staying so long in the water. Also, poor people are suffering from heat waves as they have no places to stay or to eat properly. The pollution is way too much but we are still surviving and living through it.
As a father, I ask myself if it is fair to bring another child into a world? Obviously no, because it would be selfish decision, they will be suffering because of us. No matter how much I try to protect my children, I also have a life so I can't be with them for 24hrs, and they can't take me everywhere because it's their personal life. That is why, I stay in constant fear of losing them. Some people say that every new child brings hope and that good people can change the future. I really don't know if it's true, because the majority of bad people are the most. Kind parents can not always raise kind children, because we can not control what our childrens will do.
I believe adults have a responsibility to improve the world before expecting future generations to fix it. We should continue to make the environment better before bringing our child to the world. For me, the real question should be "Are we giving our children the world they deserve?" And the question should not be "Do children deserve to exist?"
However, I want my children to grow up in a safe world. So, untill we start making a real future like that, I believe bringing more children into the world becomes a difficult ethical choice. We shouldn't behave like a selfish person and bring a child to this world. At first, we should prove that we are willing to take care of the world we already have before asking another generation to inherit its problems.
