Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Alright, time for another #Splinterlands card spotlight!
Today I'm checking out a card that honestly caught my attention because of one thing, Ambush.
The card is, Sultry Barmaid.
This is a Common Water unit, and at Level 10, which is the max level, it gets two abilities that can make it pretty annoying for the opponent.
The stats are:
Mana Cost: 5
Ranged Attack: 3
Health: 7
Speed: 4
Armor: 0
And the abilities:
Ambush – Takes an extra turn prior to the first round of battle.
Stun – 50% chance to apply Stunned for one round after a successful attack. Stunned units skip their turn.
Now, a 5 mana ranged attacker with Ambush + Stun?
Yeah, I think this one deserves a closer look.
Looking at the stats, Sultry Barmaid isn't exactly a monster.
3 ranged attack is decent.
7 health is also okay.
4 speed is pretty respectable.
But there's zero armor, so it's definitely not a unit I'd want taking a lot of punishment.
The interesting part isn't really the stats anyway.
It's the abilities.
Especially Ambush.
Getting an extra turn before the first round even starts can be a pretty big deal.
You're basically getting an opportunity to damage the enemy before the normal battle sequence begins.
And if you're lucky enough to land a Stun...
Well, things can get ugly pretty quickly.
Ambush: Takes an extra turn prior to the first round of battle.
Let's talk about the main reason I think Sultry Barmaid is interesting.
Ambush.
This ability gives the unit an extra turn prior to the first round of battle.
That's crazy useful in certain situations.
Think about it.
The teams haven't even properly started fighting yet...
And Sultry Barmaid is already attacking.
That early attack could:
Weaken an enemy tank
Finish off a low-health unit
Trigger an important ability
Or potentially apply Stun
And that last one is what really gets me interested.
Because if that first Ambush attack applies Stun...
You've potentially taken away an entire turn from an enemy unit before the normal battle even gets going.
That's a pretty nice advantage.
Stun: 50% chance to apply Stunned for one round after a successful attack. Stunned units skip their turn.
The second ability is Stun.
After a successful attack, Sultry Barmaid has a 50% chance to apply Stunned for one round.
A Stunned unit simply skips its turn.
And anybody who has played enough #Splinterlands knows how annoying losing a turn can be.
One missed attack can completely change a battle.
Especially if the stunned unit is something important.
Imagine your opponent has a strong frontline attacker.
Sultry Barmaid hits it...
Stun activates...
And suddenly that big attacker does absolutely nothing for the next turn.
Meanwhile, your other units get another chance to attack.
That's where the value comes from.
You're not just dealing 3 ranged damage.
You're potentially denying the opponent's attack.
One thing I really like about Sultry Barmaid is the 5 mana cost.
It's not super cheap...
But it's also not expensive.
That gives you plenty of room to build around it.
You can still use a strong tank.
You can add support.
You can bring other attackers.
And you still have room for a 5 mana unit like Sultry Barmaid.
For me, that's a pretty comfortable mana range.
The 3 ranged attack also means she's bringing some actual damage to the team.
She's not just sitting in the back waiting for an ability to happen.
Obviously, I wouldn't want Sultry Barmaid anywhere near the frontline unless the ruleset gave me a very specific reason.
With 0 armor and 7 health, she's better protected in the backline.
Let the tank take the hits.
Let the support units do their thing.
And let Sultry Barmaid sit safely behind them and throw attacks.
Her 4 speed is decent enough, so she won't always be attacking last.
And once she starts attacking consistently, there's always that 50% chance that Stun activates.
After looking at Sultry Barmaid, I think this is one of those cards that looks fairly normal until you really pay attention to the abilities.
The stats?
Pretty average.
The abilities?
That's where the fun begins.
Ambush + Stun is a really nice combination.
You get an early attack...
And every successful attack has a chance to completely interrupt an enemy unit.
That's something I always like having in my lineup.
It can create those moments where everything suddenly goes your way.
And honestly, those are some of the best moments in #Splinterlands.
Anyway thats it for today’s #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
