Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing amazing and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Today I decided to continue my little #Splinterlands Card Spotlight series, and this time I picked a card that honestly made me smile the first time I saw it.
The card is, Fenmoor Platypus.
Let's be honest, a platypus doesn't exactly look like the kind of creature that should be fighting in an arena.
But after looking at its stats and abilities, I realized this little guy can actually become pretty annoying for your opponent.
It's a Rare Earth unit, and at Level 8 (max level) it unlocks all three of its abilities.
At first I thought this was just another cheap melee monster.
But after checking the numbers, it actually looks pretty solid.
Here's what it has:
Mana Cost: 3
Attack: 3
Health: 5
Armor: 1
Speed: 4
For only 3 mana, those stats are honestly really nice.
You obviously aren't getting some giant legendary monster, but you're also not paying legendary mana either.
Cards like this usually become useful because they're efficient, and I think that's exactly what Fenmoor Platypus tries to be.
Reach: Can use melee attacks from the second position.
This lets Fenmoor Platypus attack from the second position.
I always enjoy Reach monsters because they give you more flexibility when building teams.
Normally, melee units just sit there doing nothing unless they're in front.
Reach changes that completely.
You can place a strong tank in first position while Fenmoor Platypus keeps attacking safely from behind.
That makes every turn a little more efficient.
Poison: 50% chance to apply Poisoned after a successful attack. Poisoned units lose 2 health at the beginning of each round.
Poison gives every successful attack a 50% chance to poison the enemy.
Poison causes the target to lose 2 health at the start of every round.
Anyone who has played #Splinterlands knows how annoying Poison can be.
Sometimes your opponent survives with just one or two health...
Then Poison finishes the job before they even get another turn.
I've won quite a few matches because Poison slowly wore down tanks that looked impossible to kill.
It's one of those abilities that can completely change the battle even if it doesn't activate immediately.
Rust: -2 armor to all enemy units.
Rust removes 2 armor from every enemy unit.
This ability becomes really valuable against teams that rely on armor.
Instead of wasting attacks breaking armor first, your team can start dealing real damage much sooner.
It might not look flashy, but reducing armor across the whole enemy team can make every attacker on your side stronger.
I think people sometimes underestimate abilities like this because the effect isn't very dramatic.
But over an entire battle?
It adds up.
Personally, I think Fenmoor Platypus works best in low to medium mana battles.
Since it only costs 3 mana, it's really easy to include without ruining your team composition.
I would probably place it behind a durable frontline tank.
That way it can:
Keep attacking thanks to Reach.
Apply Poison whenever it gets lucky.
Help the whole team with Rust.
For such a cheap card, that's actually a lot of value.
Overall, I think Fenmoor Platypus is one of those cards that quietly does its job.
It's not the strongest monster in the game.
It's not some flashy legendary worth hundreds of dollars.
But that's exactly why I like it.
For only 3 mana, you're getting a monster that can attack from the second position, poison enemies, and reduce armor for your entire team.
That's actually a pretty good package.
I think newer players might overlook this card because it looks simple.
But experienced players know that cheap support monsters often decide games.
Will I use Fenmoor Platypus every match?
Probably not.
But in the right ruleset and the right lineup, I can definitely see it putting in a lot of work.
Sometimes the smallest cards end up making the biggest difference and I think this funny looking platypus might be one of them.
Anyway thats it for todayโs #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
