Some topic of argument can be somehow funny. I really do laugh whenever I recall this day, where I watch two of my friends argue over one thing for weeks like it was an award they were chasing. The argument wasn't the issue, but the topic they were arguing on makes me wonder.
One of them was Elijah, and the other Ibrahim. A Christian and a Muslim respectively. They had previously been arguing on different things, which all started with the situation of the country and how ignorant and blind the citizens seems to be. One thing led to another, and it came to the topic which changed everything. Elijah, the calm religious one, who will always see things through the religious point of view said, if God did not do anything, nothing can be done whatsoever. We all just have to pray and wait on God to intervene. Ibrahim quickly interrupted saying he shouldn't be having such taught. If not, we will never grow as an individual. When asked why he said so? He replied.
Everything we do, God is involve. I also believe in God but saying that you are waiting for him to come change the situation is like telling him to come feed you after he had made all provisions. If I may say, we have the greatest gift apart from life, which is knowledge, given to us. We have brains and we can think. Unlike animals, we can demonstrate the sole meaning of humanity. What else are you waiting for again before you have the hunch to do what you are expected to do? It is an insult to have all this things given to you by God and still say what you just said. And this is the problem we are facing. We are used to using God as a excuse in the country.
Elijah further made his claims bold saying,
It true what you said. But all you are saying is nothing but trash if God did not do anything to aid the betterment of the community. You may know these things. But if God did not touch you to share these knowledge or touch others who knows about these things to also pass across and enlighten the society, you all are just going to be wasting your time.
It went on and on. Me, on the other hand just stood there like a middle man, not wanting to contribute a thing to the matter for reasons best known to me. From an outer point of view, I was seen like the unofficial judge in the matter. While they kept on the argument, throwing points to each other and they are both some ways right in what they said, I knew within me who I believe was making more sense.
