Wive's tales vs facts:
Candy is an excellent cook, but since we moved to the OBX, occasionally her cornbread could be used to build a brick outhouse. I called her Ellie Mae, and the sparks flew. Remember when they used Ellie Mae's lady fingers as ammunition in the old muzzle loaders on the Clampetts? I digress, anyway she blames the change in altitude. So I looked it up all scientific like. Most recipes are calculated for sea level( OBX 15 feet) and the experts say you don't need to adjust a recipe until you near 3000 feet. Our home in Ohio was at 1096 feet. Water boils at 212 at sea level and at 210 at 1000 feet. So what say you now Miss Rachael Ray? She says it will be a cold day in Hell before I see cornbread again. I was just trying to help. I suggested we could use them as yellow paving stones. She had a suggestion for me I won't repeat. LOL! I love that girl! LOL!
