Hello to fellow Asean Hivers!
I would like to share this favorite snack that we usually buy from a donut store but now I made it at home. Kids will really love this snack and this is not too sweet.
For Cake Balls:
-700 grams Mashed Chocolate Cake (not chiffon), room temperature
- 100 grams Melted Dark Chocolate
Mix the two ingredients until well combined, the sign that the mixture is ready if you make it into a ball it will stick together. I used 1 Tablespoon to measure each, this recipe can make 40 to 41 cake balls. Chill it inside the fridge.
Glaze
- 35-40 grams Melted Unsalted Butter
Brush each balls with this melted butter, it will add flavor. Remove excess butter to avoid mushy coating later.
Butternut Streusel
Make this ahead of time.
- 31 grams All Purpose Flour
- 7 grams White Sugar
- 8 grams Cornstarch
- 10 grams Melted Butter
- 1 teaspoon Yellow Liquid Food Color
- 1/4 teaspoon Red Liquid Food Color
- 31 grams Powdered Sugar
First, mix well all ingredients in number 1 then bake it at lowest temperature for 5 minutes or you can cook it over low fire on stove top for 2 to 3 minutes or until light brown. Let it cool.
Then mix the two food colors and set aside to let them combined well.
Lastly, when the flour mixture is cool add the powdered sugar. Mix it well using your fingers to mash any lumps, you can wear gloves if you want. Add the food color and do the same until everything is homogenous.
After brushing the cake balls with melted butter, roll it to this streusel until it is well coated. You can store it in a clean container with a lid.
It's done! Ready to be serve!
You can always make this ahead specially if you have kids at home, just store it inside the fridge it can last up to 7 days.
See you on my next blog!
