Hello Hivers, I hope you are all very well. Today I want to take a pause from the reviews I have been sharing with you these past few days, to give a moment of things that are necessary for me to express, share with you as well and in a way reflect as I let my fingers go along with my thoughts.
These past two days have been somewhat disturbing for me, or rather I think the right word is sentimental or spiritually sore. I don't know, I don't even know how I'm writing this with how physically and mentally exhausted I am.
In a physical way because I have been doing some final repairs to the annex I have built with my partner, it has been two days of painting and arranging many things to move this weekend, something that of course gives us a lot of happiness because it was a couple project we had and it is finally being fulfilled.
However, in all this process that has given us some happiness I have come across a piece of news that has been driving me into the ground over and over again about how unexpected or rather ephemeral people's lives are.
Between painting the walls while my partner was working away from home, I started checking WhatsApp statuses, something I don't really do much, but something in my mind said "Jonathan sit down to rest and take your cell phone because you have to know about this".
Literally it was like that, because I'm not used to do those things of checking WhatsApp only that someone writes me directly. But well, it was necessary because among all those statuses there was one in particular that made me even lower the tension of the shock it caused in me.
In one of those messages there was an allusion about the death of my best friend's husband from college, whom I have known for more than 8 years or even more. For me it was shocking to know this, because I know they were a very close couple who even have a beautiful baby girl.
My heart was beating fast, I really wanted to think that I had read it wrong and that it was someone else. I started to check my best friend's other social networks and indeed her husband had died of a heart attack.
The thing is that I have been talking to her very often since two months ago because they moved to another part of the state and we lost some communication. However, when we do talk we do it for several days to update each other on everything.
At no time did I ever see a message about her husband's illness or anything that would tell me that something bad was happening. And well, one of the things that made me think about all this is that when we are in these situations where we have someone seriously ill and in a hospital, we completely forget about the cell phone.
This happened to me in particular with my partner's situation, most people found out about his health condition two days later. In such a situation I had neither the time nor the head to write and warn others. So on that side I understand very well.
What I don't understand about life is the fact that everything happens so fast. A cardiac arrest to a 36 year old boy who was just starting to build his family and who surely had a future vision of being a grandfather.
The truth is that I did not think that my reunion with my friend was going to be so painful and sad for her and her family. However, I emphasize one thing about all this and that is that I am with her even in the bad times, even if it is to hug her and hold her in that hard moment today when we gave her the last goodbye.
Honestly watching a mother bury her child is totally heartbreaking, all those words and phrases of comfort and love that you hear from them telling their children there inside a coffin is.... Speechless, more than just enough and powerful reason to feel dejected.
Seeing my best friend cry for the first time at that moment was even more heartbreaking for me because she has always been strong and resilient in difficult times. And even being at the funeral home I didn't see her cry, but I guess that moment when you see that person you love will be there in that casket under so many feet without being able to say good morning or even argue with him (her), is something I don't want to experience if you ask me.
I had not been able to cry until now that I am writing all these paragraphs that increasingly gain a sense of belonging in me, because I can relate it to those hard times I lived with my partner where I could also have ended with a goodbye forever, I sincerely.... Thinking that drags me to the depths of pain.
These pains are things that should make us see how precious life is and how ephemeral it can be, from being something very happy to the greatest pain of your life.
