To love others we must first love ourselves", "we cannot give what we do not have", "to love ourselves in order to learn to love ".

How many times have we read or heard similar phrases and nodded at each of them, taking for certain the reality of each word?

Speaking for myself, the quantity is lost sight of to be honest, and although at the time they led me to reflect, just as they arrived they left, and it is not because I was not aware of what they implied, but because I had not reached that point of commitment to myself. I wasn't really taking care of myself as I should have.

But the years do not pass in vain, and I think that sooner or later we all reach that point where we say "aha, and me for when?" I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and in that my days go by, trying to take care of all the endless things I have ahead of me and my life goes by so fast, busy with so many things that it becomes difficult to make a stop to dedicate time to myself.

Finally, this year without even thinking about it, those phrases ended up closing in my head and almost out of nowhere I decided to make a change. Take care of myself, invest in myself, not only money, but time, just as I do with my husband, my children, my house, my work, etc., I decided to make a space for myself. And the feeling of well-being is priceless.

Why didn't I do it before? Simple... I was busy taking care of other things, money was needed for other things, and I was not my priority. Luckily things changed, and I decided to review my priorities, make adjustments and be fair to me. So the changes began.

An hour and a bit more dedicated completely to me, to exercise, to have a skincare routine after thousands of years of not doing it, to sit down, to breathe and just to do nothing for a few minutes.

I confess that the first few days were super difficult because I felt like I was wasting time, that instead of doing that I could write for my blog or take care of the house, and I ended up walking around with my cell phone in my hand to "take advantage" of the time and write while I was doing it.

The result? Days with a strong pain in my neck, walking for 40 minutes with my head bent to be able to write, but finally I could understand that if I am going to do this, I must do it well and enjoy the process, so that hour is to give myself affection, to feel good without worrying about anything else.

Now as soon as I wake up I am looking forward to everyone leaving the house to their activities to enjoy that appointment with me, that time and attention that I have been owing me for a long time. A special time for me, to take care of me and love me.

I finally understood that if I am not well, nothing around me will be really well, that I am me first, and then everything else, and that is not being selfish. It's loving me, it's being responsible with myself.
