"Paraguachoa": mucho mas que un restaurante | "Paraguachoa": Much More Than Just a Restaurant 🥣🌽
Hello foodies, happy start to the week! How are you all doing? I’m still pretty busy here and spending my mornings away from home, so either my husband cooks, or I do, and I have lunch out with the people I’m working with right now—one of whom, by the way, is my friend Claudimar. So even though it’s a little tiring, it doesn’t feel “that much” like work, since we have a really good time together with our teammate.
Today we had to print some documents, take them to the registry office for review, and run a few other errands, and to wrap up the day we decided to grab some cocadas, since our coworker—who’s been on the island for over a week now—hadn’t tried them yet, and that was something we couldn’t let happen, so we headed back from the Gómez municipality to Arismendi for some delicious cocadas, but the shop was closed. So, to make sure we didn’t go home empty-handed, we decided to go to another place in the Antolín del Campo municipality called “Paraguachoa.”
Paraguachoa is a restaurant serving traditional island cuisine and Creole food in general, where—in addition to some incredibly delicious cocadas—you can also find seafood dishes, soups, cachapas, pork, goat, and the list goes on, and even though we originally went for some cocadas, the food caught our eye, and we ended up having cocadas and lunch too 🤣🤣
Today we had the restaurant all to ourselves, but that’s because we arrived around 11:40 a.m. So before ordering, we took a walk around the grounds, which are really pretty—they have a small group of animals like you’d find at a petting zoo. We couldn’t touch them, but it was still really nice to see them.
After a few minutes of exploring, we ordered some cocadas and started deciding what to eat, since they had a wide variety of options—from soups, seafood stew, calamari, shrimp, octopus, goat tarkary, and a whole bunch of other delicious things—but Héctor and I settled on cachapas with pork, and Claudi chose a beef soup.
The food didn't take too long to arrive, and honestly, between the cocada and our conversation, I didn't even notice how long it took to come out, but I can tell you that the soup, the cachapa, and the cocada were all delicious. The only thing I didn't like was the pork because it was reheated, and honestly, that really takes away from its flavor and texture, but overall, everything was great.
As for the prices, I don’t remember how much the cocada cost 🤣🤣🤣, but the beef soup was $7, and the cachapas with pork were part of a combo that came with Nestee and only cost $3—so it couldn’t have been better.
The rest of the prices on the menu range from $3 to $14, so honestly, for the quality and quantity, they’re pretty good. Plus, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was very pleasant—quite cool despite the heat we’ve been having on the island lately.
As you can see, I have a lot of positive things to say about Paraguachoa, so if you’re in Margarita or planning to visit the island, be sure to stop by—it’s definitely worth it!
