As they say, a friend is a treasure and multiplied by two, much more! And this is what happens when you become friends with your daughter's best friend's mother.

Friendship is one of those values that accompanies us throughout our lives, without it I think it would be extremely difficult to survive in society because friends are that gift that make our way easier. They are those who sit next to us at school and help us through our childhood between games and complicity, they are those who in adolescence know all our secrets and cry with us for the one who broke our heart and are those who in our adulthood help us carry our burdens, listen to us, advise and accompany us. In short, good friends are a gift from God.

Throughout my life I have had great friendships that have accompanied me on my journey and I can say that from each one I have learned something, good or bad, but I have learned, therefore they have been a blessing and although today if I had to count them I would have more than enough fingers on one hand, far from feeling bad about it, I thank God who removes and puts according to what is convenient. And in the end, those who are there are surely the ones I need.

Most of my friends came into my life during adolescence and ended up being family literally speaking, since they are cousins of my husband and my brothers in law, others came to me after I became a mom thanks to my children's friends at school and it is in that group that Celina is found, she is the mom of Gabriel, Miranda's best friend (my youngest daughter) and although they are not still in the same school their great friendship keeps them united as well as me with Celina. Hence the title of my post.... "Friends x 2", since it is not just an adult friendship but the friendship between Gabriel and Miranda.

The two of them met in the nursery when they were two years old and from then on, just like them, Celina and I became great friends too. Time has passed (they are both 9 years old now) and in spite of studying now in different schools the friendship far from cooling down has been strengthened, we meet as often as we can and we share together on special dates like in this case Gabriel's birthday. So for his 9th birthday we went to a fantastic posada in a small town called La Fuente. We had been to this place before with another group of friends and we fell in love with it and the kids even more, so we had that visit pending.

The days leading up to the birthday were full of uncertainty and prayers (from the kids haha) because it had been raining a lot! In fact just the day of the birthday it started raining and quickly Celina and I organized a Plan B in case it didn't stop raining, and that was to go to a little place nearby called "Paraguachoa" where we had also gone many times because they have a kind of contact farm that the kids love and of course delicious food. So it was just a matter of time to decide what we would do, but there was a celebration, there was a celebration! Thank God the sun was shining and we were able to follow the original plan!

Celina picked us up around 11am and I don't know if Gabriel was happier for the Dragon Ball Z themed cakes I made him or to see the kids. Their happiness was really incomparable, they hadn't seen each other for some time so meeting for the birthday and in that place was a dream come true. So with everything prepared we left for the inn, three very happy children and two friends ready to talk all day long!

When we arrived at the inn the sun was shining brightly and you could feel its pleasant warmth on your skin after days of so much rain, so we bathed the kids in sunscreen and they were in the pool faster than a rooster could crow. As for us, we put away the cakes and cupcakes that Celina brought and settled down to talk about everything. It's incredible but even though we talk to each other daily by phone and write each other constantly when we get together the conversation topics never end, in fact, we always say goodbye with "Ami se me olvidó contarte..." Hahaha and it's that time is short when you are with people you love.

The kids were really happy and we were even happier to see them enjoying themselves so much. They would get out of the water just to get a toy and then immediately go back in. They were so excited that I didn't even want to go out to eat the goodies we had for them. That particular day in the pool area, there was only one family with a child and after a few minutes they left and we were left with the whole place just for us, so the kids enjoyed a VIP day at their leisure! While we were always vigilant and chatting in total relaxation mode!

A little later we decided to order pizzas at a nearby place that had Delivery so we had a super tasty lunch. The pizzas at this place called Mama Mía are absolutely delicious! We have already been to different branches with the kids and both they and we are hooked on their delicious taste and excellent prices. As soon as the kids were done eating they wanted to get back in the pool but we asked them to wait a bit to get back in so they were running around.

I looked at them and thought how beautiful friendship is at that age where everything is play and joy, there is no room for resentment, offense and bad feelings. At that age any problem is instantly forgiven and forgotten. Our children are definitely great teachers, we just need to put into practice what they teach us every day.

A little later my husband joined us, just in time to sing birthdays. Celina's husband, (like many other Venezuelan daddies), is out of the country waiting to be reunited soon. And yes, other loved ones I will have to say goodbye to, so conscious of that, we make the most of every opportunity to see each other and share and even though we live quite far from each other we try to get together often to catch up and for the kids to share.

That day it was just us, but Gabriel enjoyed his special day like never before, since he had been dreaming of going to the posada for a long time and for different reasons we had not been able to, so it was a dream come true and the best birthday present in the world! So in the evening we sang birthday to a very excited and happy Gabriel. I won't say tired because even though it was getting dark he went back into the pool!

For me it was a really special day. To feel part of the family of someone with whom you have no blood ties is rare and a blessing. Celina lost her mother a year ago after a hard battle with cancer and with her husband out of the country it was an honor that she decided to share with us such a special day for her. The children were happy and we were even happier because we talked non-stop, laughed and shared beautiful moments that will last in time, even if each one of us takes different paths later on.

I am convinced that friendship, like any other relationship, must be cultivated based on essential values such as respect, solidarity and empathy. Without that it is impossible to speak of true friendship. I am a true believer that for a friendship to last through time it must be seen through the eyes of a child.

Who does not remember that best friend from childhood with whom we argued from time to time because he did not want to lend us his toy but within minutes we forgot everything and without realizing it we were playing with him again, leaving everything in oblivion and moving forward. With a simple "can you forgive me?" all was forgotten. My oldest son and his best friend have almost their entire lives as friends and I have never seen them argue, they love each other and treat each other like family and if they have ever gotten upset over playtime issues the next second they are at each other's throats. That is friendship.

Whoever has a friend has a treasure, even more valuable than money and there is definitely nothing that can compare to having someone who is your support in difficult days, who is there whenever you need it, who cares sincerely for you and yours and that day by day through the years shows you their appreciation and affection. And if you, who read me, have such a special friend, value every moment and every action, you can't find a good friend just anywhere.

Kisses and blessings!

Besitos y bendiciones!
