Today I thank God for another year of life and even more grateful for the opportunity to meet people who, without sharing the same blood, have become part of our family.
Mark and Dalila are a married couple who arrived from Peru about three years ago. Mark is English and Dalila is Venezuelan. They bought an apartment in the building where my husband and I live. Since we met, we've gotten along very well. They've been there for us during the most important and difficult moments of our lives in recent years, and we also share birthdays.
By a twist of fate, Mark and I share the same birthday, so we celebrate together. We share a single cake, Mark's favorite: carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, which I made myself, by the way, hehehe 馃構
Our birthday gatherings are very simple, intimate family affairs. We sing "Happy Birthday," eat lots of cake, and chat for a while. It might sound boring to some, but for us, it's enough.
We had a wonderful time, as always. In the middle of the celebration, Mark and Dalila had a gift for me. It was a huge surprise; they always give us things, but this time I wasn't expecting it. It's a very useful gift: a home planetary mixer, just what I needed to make my desserts! My regular mixer had broken down, and now I have no excuse not to bake more delicious desserts! 馃槏
I'm happy and grateful not only for the gift, which I really appreciate, but also for the gesture and for every gesture they've made for us. There are people who come into our lives and are such a blessing that all I can say is, they were sent by God.
Hoy agradezco a Dios por un a帽o m谩s de vida y m谩s agradecida a煤n por darme la oportunidad de conocer personas que, sin tener la misma sangre, se han vuelto parte de nuestra familia.
Mark y Dalila son un matrimonio que llegaron de Per煤 hace aproximadamente tres a帽os, Mark es ingl茅s y Dalila es venezolana, ellos compraron un apartamento en la residencia en donde vivimos mi esposo y yo, desde que nos conocimos nos hemos llevado muy bien, ellos han estado en los momentos m谩s importantes y dif铆ciles que hemos tenido en estos 煤ltimos a帽os, tambi茅n compartimos los cumplea帽os.
Por esas casualidades de la vida, Mark y yo cumplimos el mismo d铆a, as铆 que celebramos juntos, una sola torta, la preferida de Mark, torta de zanahoria con frosting de queso crema, por cierto hecha por m铆, jejejeje 馃構
Nuestras reuniones de cumplea帽os son muy sencillas, en la intimidad familiar, cantamos cumplea帽o feliz, comemos mucha torta y conversamos un rato, a muchos les sonar谩 aburrido, pero para nosotros es suficiente.
La pasamos muy bien, como siempre, en medio de la celebraci贸n, Mark y Dalila me ten铆an un regalo, para m铆 fue una gran sorpresa, bueno ellos siempre nos regalan cosas, pero esta vez no lo esperaba, es un regalo muy 煤til, una batidora planetaria dom茅stica, 隆justo lo que necesitaba para hacer mis postres! pues mi batidora sencilla se hab铆a da帽ado, ahora no tengo excusas para cocinar postres m谩s ricos 馃槏
Estoy feliz y agradecida no solo por el regalo, que lo aprecio mucho, sino tambi茅n por el gesto y por cada gesto que ellos han tenido con nosotros, hay personas que llegan a nuestras vidas y son de tanta bendici贸n, que por mi parte solo puedo decir, ellos han sido enviados por Dios.
The celebration lasted about two hours and we went home, me happy with my gift and my husband, as always, sharing in this happiness.
