31st DECEMBER | MORNING:
After spending quite a few days with my in-laws in Khulna, taking in the sights in and around the house and area. Suddenly, on the fourth day we had gotten word that there were some new born puppies in an abandoned house nearby. Someone had heard and spotted the pups while passing by. SO, the animal lovers inside of us instantly got intrigued after hearing the news and we decided to set out immediately. Soon enough we were on our way towards the pups, to check if they're safe and taken care of. We took along a bowl of food as well, just in case if any of them were hungry.
Shortly after we reached the place we had discovered the mother and all four of her pups. Surprisingly, we had seen and fed the mother before, she roams around the area quite a lot in search of food usually. But sadly from the looks of it she doesn't get a sufficient amount of food to feed herself and the pups altogether. The pups were also quite well-grown, probably a few weeks old and also quite defensive for their age to be honest. I've come across many dogs in my life, taken care of a lot of them myself, small or big you name it, but I've probably never seen such defensive puppies. Their mother was a bit shy, she wasn't scared of humans but she always maintained a bit of distance for some reason. So, my guess would be since the puppies were still young and basically growing up in a big abandoned area with no human contact is what made them act so defensively.
As the pups were a bit frightened we decided to leave the food and look out from a distance, soon enough they all stopped barking and came out one by one. So, most of the pictures had to be taken while digitally zoomed in from a distance, while staying very still and calm. Some National Geographic level stuff I tell you haha. Even though I do think the pictures came out quite alright, on phones digital zoom usually tends to mess with the details.
After quite the troublesome meeting and interaction with the pups we decided to head back. Hoping to come back the next day and take care of them on the regular, that way slowly will gain confidence while trust is slowly built among both man and animal.
AFTERNOON FEAST:
It was a Friday that day, 31st of December to be exact and we were expecting guests. My wife's aunts were invited for lunch, a feast with the family members and relatives for New Year Eve was planned. So, food had to prepared for quite a lot of people and we Bangladeshis usually cook at home for such events. The usual polao, biriyani along with different items like chicken roast, beef curry and what not. BUT this time around we decided to order the food from a restaurant(quite unlikely and rare for us Bangladeshis if I do say so myself haha) so we began our search and soon enough everyone decided on ordering from one of the best restaurants in Khulna called Dhaba. Choosing the restaurant's most popular dish called The Maha Raja Biriyani. Also, I would say ordering the biryani was a safe bet, because I don't think you will find many of us Bangladeshis who don't like biriyani haha.
After the order was placed it took about 30 minutes for the food to get delivered. So, we setup our plates and everyone sat down together for lunch at around 3PM. Everyone was quite well fed and full and even then two boxes of biriyani was still left lol. The food was surely worth every penny, the amount of food you get for the price was surely unbeatable, even compared Dhaka's standards and offers. After the feast everyone decided to do their own thing, some sat around watching TV, some got in a nap and a bit of chit chat for a few. I decided to join in for a nap or I wouldn't be able to function properly after eating so much haha. As the activities went on with a bit of gossip, some laughs, evening snacks on the side, the day slowly came to an end.
1st January | 2022
A new year, a new day, yet the same old life and routine. Woke up quite late that day, it was probably because of the increased amount of food and snacks we've eaten due to New Years Eve. The plan for the day wasn't much, same as the usual but with a bit more free time. So, me and the wife decided to head out in the afternoon for a "date" you can say, it had been quite a while since we've last been on a date to be honest. We decided to on visiting Bistro C, a cafe which is quite well known in Khulna and said be one of the best. We got ready in a jiffy and decided to head out at 4PM, BUT as we got out we decided to take a detour and pay the pups a visit.
Surprisingly, today the pups were acting a bit more friendly and confident, they were playing around by themselves at the front of the house. Yet, we decided to maintain our distance, we didn't want to interrupt their playful routine and mood. I tried to get in a few photos, but they were still a bit afraid and always on the move so it was the same old calm and zoomed in photo session. So, we quickly checked on them and left for our evening date.
As we reached the restaurant and got into the place it was fairly crowded, it usually is like this they say. Luckily, we got there on time, got our preferred seats and just in a matter of minutes people started swarming in. Some people even had to head back because no more tables or seats were available. I guess it was "prime time" yet after trying the food, I couldn't understand what the fuss was all about lol. Now, I am no food critic or expert but the food wasn't as good as I expected it to be. Knowing that this place is one of the best cafes in Khulna, I was just expecting better tasting food I guess, especially when comparing the quality and price to the cafes in Dhaka.
But that evening was surely less about the food and more about the time spent with my wife. Even after being married for over a year now, we've barely been on two or three dates in total I guess. Distance, work, studies and many other reasons for all of it being as it is, also Covid, not much to say there. We've all been through it in one way or the other, some have just witnessed it, some have straight up been through the damage Covid has caused. Hopefully this year it isn't as severe as it has been in the past 2 years. Maybe Covid won't pack its bags and leave right way just yet, but we can surely hope fore some recovery and stability.
