Hello all Hive People &
@splinterlands lovers,
Made with Gemini and edited in Canva
When I started playing the Splinterlands game, there were few cards and only Alpha and Beta editions were released. Most of the Alpha and Beta cards were having the same ability and stats (the only difference was the number of cards required to level up the cards as I know broadly). The rule set for battle were also limited and simple. If we look now days the game has evolved so much and has a number of edition and variety of cards is also too much which make it hard to understand and choose the card for battles. The rule set also become more complex, and yes to make the game engaging and interesting it was the necessary also. But for a new players understanding the cards, different abilities and ruleset is very difficulty or I may says a nightmare. But the team has come up with a very creative and interesting solution of this problem.
If you’ve queued up for battles recently, you might have noticed some new visual effects happening on the team creation screen -specifically, glowing stat indicators and aura highlights around card stats and abilities.
While it might look like a simple cosmetic touch at first glance, this update is part of a deliberate onboarding overhaul designed by the team to help new and returning players navigate complex battle mechanics much faster. Let's have a look at this new update.
What’s Behind the New Glowing Stat Highlights?
During the team selection phase, when specific rulesets like Armored Up, Equalizer, or the low-health Anemic modifier come into play, the UI now triggers glowing highlights around the exact stats and abilities impacted by those rules. These visual indicators instantly signal to the player and help them to build a lineup.
Building Neural Connections for Beginner Mages
If someone tried introducing a friend to Splinterlands, than the learning curve may be pretty steep. With hundreds of unique cards, intricate mana costs, and battles often stacking two or three rulesets simultaneously, this all is very confusing for a new players.
By adding these glowing visual cues directly onto stat badges during team selection, the game helps beginners quickly. Player may select the required cards immediately and it will help them as filter and now players may have to select the cards out of those filtered cards. This will be great help for them in suitable card selection as well as will also reduce the time required as the 180 second clock is also one restraint.
Have you noticed the new glowing stat indicators during your team selection phase? Do you think these visual cues help speed up your battle decisions when playing under multiple rulesets? Let’s talk strategy and UX in the comments below.
