Some Sundays are just perfect.
To be honest, any day that starts with a surf is sublime in my book. Although it ended up crowded, it was a decent 3 feet and I got some nice waves on the bigger sets which were challenging and fun. Much cleaner and better than a few days ago - pictured below. My hips have been hurting alot so I am reminding myself to get back to hip strengthening exercises so I don't end up groaning like an old woman all the time!
After that I went and visited my parents. Poor Dad hasn't been feeling good at all and is getting quite thin. He has another round of treatment soon and they're hoping that'll help him feel better at least for a little while. He said he had decided to talk to the psych next week. It's hard for him as he is used to being at least a bit more active. The kinda good news is they've seen a lawyer and turns out there's quite a bit of compensation for asbestos victims, enough for him and Mum to stay where they are and afford a gardener and other things that make their life easier.
Despite this all seeming quite sad, we talked about lots of other things as well and it was nice just to hang out with him in the sunshine.
Mum and I then went to my sister's and my sister and I gifted her a beautiful sea glass mobile. You might recall Mum buying me one this year as a surprise. We bought it for her to say we love her, which isn't something we would ordinarily do. This completely undid her as of course she's been fragile over Dad, resulting in tears which was quite sweet.
After that lovely moment we went to the Christmas markets in Torquay which was fantastic. Very busy but there were lots of great stalls, music and food. We had some vegetarian momos, a Tibetan dumpling we all adore. It came with chilli sauce and a beautiful salad of red cabbage, seaweed and cucumber. No photos - we were just too busy enjoying the moment.
My sister and I both bought some harem pants. They were the best ones I've found since India and I adore them for summer as they are so cool to wear. I bought three - two patterned and a plain black. They are great to dress up or down and will be awesome to travel with in Winter.
It was so nice hanging out with my sister and Mum. It's not something we often do. We will need each other more and more in the coming years and I think we are all acutely aware of that.
When I dropped off Mum I pinched a couple of books to read. Some of you might have read last week's post about vowing to read more so this will be a start. 
At home I laid on the front deck and read for a bit before joining Jamie in the shed to help him put a Land Rover accessory on the Defender.
Now it's time for dinner - salad, likely, as my induction cooktop has stopped working just in time for Christmas. But lovely, sublime Sundays like today make up for such inconveniences.
