The movie stars Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, and Ryan Gosling, as well as other supporting actors.
The movie is about a middle-aged man, Cal Weaver, played by Steve Carell, who was comfortable in his marriage and was not putting in any effort with his wife, Emily Weaver, played by Julianne Moore, until she told him she wanted a divorce.
He became very sad, and in an attempt to console himself, he met a friend, Jacob Palmer, played by Ryan Gosling, a sad young womaniser who helped him rediscover himself and would make him a different man from the one his wife had found unsuitable.
Carl, under the wing of Jacob, was able to master the act of a player in a short period, but not long after, Carl will realise that he was still in love with Emily and will listen to the words of his thirteen-year-old son and will try to fight to get his wife back.
Jacob, on the other side, meets and falls in love with a girl he once tried to pick up at the bar but was unsuccessful; she made him happy, and he realised what he was always missing.
The movie shows how comfortable someone can be with a situation when it does not directly affect him. Steve Carell had learned the act of womanising from Jacob Palmer and didn’t have any judgment against him until he saw him with his daughter.
Robbie Weaver had his father and mother as role models when it came to love; he believed that everyone has a soulmate and that if you put in enough effort and fight hard enough for your soulmate, it will always work out, only for him to lose hope and not believe in love anymore, seeing it as a scam and nothing more because of a failed attempt.
The movie is a good watch for fans of Romance as well as comedy; it dives deep into our emotions, and it is a fantasy for every lover boy and girl out there.
