Yesterday was my mother's burial service. She passed away April 23 but we had to wait until yesterday because of Covid 19. So many people have and are still dying so funeral services are severely backed up. Because she had the virus, it was direct burial. No embalming or a wake was allowed. Had to meet the funeral director at the cemetery. She had been in and out of the hospital and rehabs since November, five or six times. I would go visit her every day, no matter what place she was at. Then in March visiting wasn't allowed because of the virus. I got to see a her a few more times as they were wheeling her back from dialysis which was up the block. I guess I was more lucky than others in that sense. On April 16, dialysis had called to say they were sendig her to the hospital because she had a fever and a high heart rate. The last time I spoke to her was the Wednesday before. She would only live for another week after getting that fever. Covid is really brutal on people with underlying issues and a weakened immune system. The whole situation is so much more difficult because families aren't able to see there loved ones before they die. Even not being able to give them the proper burial. We were very close, I live below her and my brother's family above, in a family house. I will love and miss her forever. Always tell the the ones you love how you feel, it's very important. Many are not getting that chance. I'm happy I always said it.
