I opened the floodgate without needing fuses, returned to my boat, and drove toward the annex library. Before reaching safety, a giant creature emerged from the water and attacked. Kelvin escaped inside, then triggered a memory of meeting Faye in the library before coming back to the flooded present.
Things seemed to go wrong very quickly. Fortunately, I found my way to the switch for the floodgate. I did not see any complicated mechanism requiring electrical fuses, which made opening the gate straightforward.
Once the path was clear, I unfolded a ladder and climbed down to reach my boat. The inside of that building had been a total nightmare, so leaving it behind felt like a relief.
I started the boat and drove through the floodgate, which served as the final barrier before the annex library.
After navigating through the passage, I found a suitable spot to park the boat and prepared to reach the library to see what awaited me.
As I headed toward the entrance, a cinematic sequence began to play. Kelvin walked slowly toward the surging floodwater as if sensing an approaching danger.
A moment later, a massive creature emerged from the depths, displaying a giant leg above the surface. The monster hurled heavy debris toward Kelvin in an aggressive attack. Despite the chaos, Kelvin managed to dodge the thrown objects and scrambled inside the annex library for cover.
Once inside, a voice called out Kelvin's name, asking why he was there. Kelvin turned in surprise to see a woman identified as Miss Bennett. He questioned her presence in the building, though it soon became clear that Miss Bennett was actually Faye, the love of Kelvin's life.
This encounter took place in the past, long before the tragic flood submerged the area. As the conversation continued, their dynamic revealed they were not strangers at all, merely putting on an act. Faye asked him to go upstairs to join her.
At that point, the flashback ended, bringing Kelvin back to the grim reality of the present. He found himself standing inside the flooded annex library with water covering the floor. He felt confused by the strange giant creature that had attacked him outside.
Remembering his true purpose, he noted that he still needed to locate the specific book he had come to find.
