Kratos felt Atreus growing in ways he could not understand as they returned home to repair the protection stave. After fighting off a group of raiders, we traced the blood left by Atreus during his bear transformation. After fixing the stave, we discovered orphaned bear cubs near their slain mother.
Atreus was growing in ways that Kratos could not fully understand, making it difficult for him to guide the boy on his path. With the immediate danger past, Kratos decided it was time to return home. We made our way forward, cutting through a massive fallen tree that blocked the path.
Mimir tried to talk to Atreus about his recent transformation into the bear, but Kratos cut him off, stating that it was not the time for such discussions and that repairing the protection stave remained their top priority.
Atreus asked what happened to the stave in the first place, and Kratos told him directly that his own actions had broken it.
As we walked ahead, we noticed a raider standing directly in our path. I commanded Atreus to use his bow, and the kid stood ready with his arrows, simply waiting for my permission to strike. The moment I gave the command, Atreus released an arrow that struck the raider directly.
When the enemy charged toward the boy in retaliation, I threw the Leviathan Axe straight into him before he could land a strike. The two of us moved in together, overwhelming the raider in a matter of seconds.
Further along near a cave entrance, I noticed several more raiders waiting in ambush. I charged at them and initiated the attack immediately, while Atreus held his ground at a safe distance and provided cover fire with his arrows.
Once we finished clearing out the remaining raiders, we continued our steady trek toward home. As we walked, Kratos brought up how Atreus had cast a spell when his pet wolf died, but Atreus denied it, insisting he had no memory of what Kratos was talking about.
When we drew closer to home, Atreus recognized the familiar surroundings and pointed out a dark trail of blood on the snow. Kratos revealed that the blood belonged to Atreus himself from when he had lost control as a bear.
The revelation left Atreus confused, unsettled by the realization that he had bled so much without any memory of the event.
Continuing along the trail, Kratos spotted a specific tree and pointed it out to Atreus. The boy approached it and cast a spell over the trunk, successfully restoring the magic of the protection stave.
Immediately after, the growls of bears echoed through the trees, prompting both of us to draw our weapons and prepare for a fight. However, the sounds came from a pair of small bear cubs crying beside their dead mother, whom Atreus had slain during his bear frenzy.
Being sorry for his actions, Atreus asked what they should do for the cubs, but Kratos told him there was nothing to be done, reminding him that nature would take its course.
